YIKES: HUCKABEE HAS MORE EXPLAINING TO DO

This can't be true, can it? Was Mike Huckabee so smug as Arkansas Governor that he would so dismissively respond - through his attorney - to concerns from a prosecuting attorney about the number of clemencies violent criminals were receiving at the stroke of Huck's pen?

Based on these two letters - one sent to Huckabee by ROBERT HERZFELD, a prosecutor from the 22nd district of Arkansas on January 13th, 2004 and a response back to him by CORY COX, an attorney for Huckabee - the former Arkansas Governor may not only have to forget about running for president. He may need to worry about that television show he has. Here is what Huckabee's attorney wrote in response to Herzfeld's concerns about Huck's propensity for granting clemencies:
The governor read you(r) letter and laughed out loud.

He wanted me to respond to you. I wish you success as you cut down on your caffeine constuuption.
The arrogance of the letter from Cox to a lowly prosecutor is palpable. After Herzfeld expresses legitimate concern about the number of clemencies granted by Huckabee, he goes a step further and offers to be available for Huckabee to explain his case. Appearances and perception is everything here. Check out this excerpt from Herzfeld's letter to Huckabee:
...it seems clear that you did not finish reading my December 29th letter. As I stated last month, if you have a case which merits clemency, I requested that you contact me with the reasons you believe clemency is appropriate for persons incarcerated and allow me to research the facts and then determine whether I would withdraw my objection.
Rather than the King of Arkansas humbling himself in front of a lowly prosecutor from one of the many districts in the state, one of the King's men scoffs at that prosecutor's concerns by laughing at him and intimating that his level of forthrightness with a governor is somehow chemically induced. Huckabee is beginning to look quite disgraceful.

HUCKABEE HAS DISTURBING HISTORY WITH CLEMENCY

As Governor of Arkansas, Mike Huckabee granted clemency to Maurice Clemmons, the man accused of killing four uniformed police officers in Washington state on 11/29/09 in a coffee shop. Clemmons was sentenced to 35 years in the early 90's for armed robbery and theft yet Huckabee let him go after 10 years. Recently, Clemmons was jailed for the the rape of a child.

What's most disturbing about Huckabee in this instance is not just that he let Clemmons free. It's that he has a very long history of setting prisoners free.

Michelle Malkin has probably done the best job of putting it ALL TOGETHER.

She posts multiple links to some of the Arkansas Leader articles on the subject.

THIS ONE is about Arkansas prosecutors expressing displeasure with the former Governor.

Or how about THIS ONE, which shows that Arkansas under Huckabee had more clemencies than six of its surrounding states combined.

HERE, the Leader has a piece calling for Huckabee to be held accountable for his shameful record in this area.

If ever there was an example for conservatives to set when it comes to party loyalty, this is it. Instead of defending Huckabee because he's a Republican, conservatives should show the highly partisan left that they will not play their game and diffuse their own cognitive dissonance with absurd rationalizations. Huckabee's political career is likely over because of this and it should be.

RECOGNIZE THIS GUY? MARC LAMONT HILL IS BAD NEWS

Perhaps you've seen Dr. Hill on Hannity, Greta, or Huckabee. Odds are better that you've seen him on the O'Reilly Factor, where he makes the majority of his appearances. In any case, Hill is a paid Fox News Contributor who should perhaps be out of a job soon.

David Horowitz and Cliff Kincaid have uncovered a multitude of very disturbing things about Hill, not the least of which involves scrubbing his website after he's been busted.

It all started when David Horowitz posted on his NEWSREAL blog that Hill was severely underqualified to discuss American foreign policy relative to Iran. Hill apparently took issue with this and responded to Horowitz via Twitter. In reading Hill's response, Horowitz noticed something very disturbing about Hill's wallpaper - it included several photos of Assata Shakur, a convicted cop killer who ended her victim's life by shooting him "execution style" in the head two times. Shakur was convicted but escaped thanks to help from both Weather Underground and the Black Liberation Army. She is currently in Cuba, thanks to being granted asylum by the Castro government.

As is quite common, Cliff Kincaid has picked up the ball and is running with it, exposing far more disturbing facts about Hill. So far, Kincaid has written three articles on Hill and Fox News continuing to retain him as a contributor. In Kincaid's SEPTEMBER 28 article, he provides the details of an interview he conducted with Hill:
While Hill disputed reports that Shakur shot Foerster in the head, the website of America's Most Wanted, a Fox program, describes what happened this way: "On May 2, 1973, New Jersey State Police Troopers James Harper and Werner Foerster were patrolling the New Jersey Turnpike in the East Brunswick area. They stopped a car with three occupants and began to question them. The female passenger, JoAnne Chesimard, was a member of the Black Liberation Army. She suddenly pulled out a semi-automatic pistol and opened fire. Trooper Foerster was struck twice in the chest and Trooper Harper was hit in the shoulder. Chesimard then picked up Trooper Foerster's service weapon and shot him twice in the head, execution style, while he lay in the road."
Yet, Marc Lamont Hill seems to revere Shakur based on Horowitz' claim that his Twitter wallpaper consists of several pictures of her. Uh, well, that was before Hill was outed. According to Kincaid, Shakur has been taken down and replaced by the rather innocuous photos of Muhammad Ali.

In Kincaid's September 30th article titled, FOX NEWS HAS A VAN JONES PROBLEM, we learn a bit more about Hill.
In the same way that Van Jones was exposed originally by New Zealand blogger Trevor Loudon by using Internet search engines to look into his controversial background and writings, over the course of just a few days Accuracy in Media has been able to determine the following about Hill from public sources:

He called the notorious anti-white, anti-Jewish Khallid Muhammad a "mentor, teacher, and revolutionary hero," and believes that the black racist died not from a brain aneurysm but was assassinated. Muhammad was so extreme that he was ousted from the Nation of Islam because of his hatred of Jews.
He gave a lecture on "The Importance of Ideological Training in the New Millenium (sic)" at the Polymathematic University's "Political Education Program for the Poor Righteous Communist Party."
He declared on a "MySpace" page that the people he'd like to meet personally include Assata Shakur, Louis Farrakhan, Fidel Castro, and Mumia Abu Jamal, another convicted cop-killer.
He speaks on "The Importance of the Nation of Islam to Hip-Hop Culture" and says that he once belonged to something called the Ansaaru Allah Community, an Islamic sect with doctrines similar to the Nation of Islam that has been accused of being a religious cult.
Hill's "MySpace" page features a slide show of such figures as Assata Shakur, Fidel Castro, Che Guevara, and Ella Baker, who just happens to be the namesake of the Ella Baker Center, founded by Van Jones.
The Marc Lamont Hill website includes a graphic and obscene "Sex With Timaree" segment that features advice from a "Sexpert" on how to enjoy the "Land o' Anal" or anal sex.
Hill also spoke at Polymathematic University according to Kincaid and this is easily verified. What's quite disturbing about PU is a link on its website under the heading of "Comrades". When you click on that link, you are directed to the website for the POOR RIGHTEOUS PARTY OF THE BLACK NATION, which has photos of Mao Tse Tung, Malcolm X, Nicolai Lenin, and some other really sweet dudes.

Be sure to check out Kincaid's OCTOBER 2ND ARTICLE as well.

The most telling things about Hill are his actions after being confronted about his allegiances. Among things deleted or altered include his My Space page, Twitter, and Homepage.

Fox News in general and Bill O'Reilly in particular need to denounce Marc Lamont Hill and do so publicly while pledging never to allow him to set foot inside the Fox News Channel again. To this point, O'Reilly deserves the benefit of the doubt. He will be severely tainted if he continues to provide Hill with a forum.

Why Palin is Leaving - Think Huckabee

In the age of Obama, image is everything. It's how he got elected. It's how he governs.

Mike Huckabee gets that.

He is building a weekly audience by letting people in to see his agenda in a way that doesn't carry the contrivances of a campaign stop on the back of a caboose. He gets to set the tone. He gets to ask the questions. He gets to showcase his bass playing abilities on a weekly basis (Bill Clinton made just one cameo on Arsenio). He gets to portray himself the way he wants himself to be portrayed. He's on offense with his own show and that show is a significant arrow in his 2012 presidential campaign quiver.

The former Arkansas governor is not doing a weekly show because he wants to be a celebrity. He's doing it because he wants to be a frontrunner.

It's a new age and to reach voters, you have to be in their face while being on your terms. Huckabee seems to have figured that out. He was the Republican runner-up for president in 2008 so why hasn't the liberal media been attacking him instead of Sarah Palin?

Yes, it's true that she has a greater knack for galvanizing the base but one thing she doesn't have that Huckabee now does is the ability to fight back with an offensive weapon - her own show on the #1 cable news channel. She's stuck on a non-contiguous one-state stage while being forced into a national arena with a carnivorous leftwing media.

If ever there was a presidency that came about and whose engine continues to move forward with television imagery as its best friend, the Barack Obama presidency is it. He's on television every day and has learned how to leverage that imagery (despite the teleprompter) to his advantage.

Assuming Palin is neither wilting under the pressure of unceasing attacks nor pre-emptively attempting to stave off the revelation of some scandal, wouldn't it make sense for her to take the Huckabee route?

Every time Katie Couric, Matt Lauer, or Charlie Gibson, etc. want to talk to her, odds are good it'll be a forum in which she will have to defend herself from comments made by the likes of David Letterman. The invitation comes with ulterior motives like ratings. Being on the defensive is no way to increase your appeal. Putting others on defense is definitely more preferable (anyone think Couric would agree to show up on the Sarah Palin show as a guest?).

Sarah Palin has proven herself as a governor. It doesn't matter what state it is. She's also proven herself as someone who can galvanize the conservative base while standing up to the national pressure of a vice presidential debate. Maybe it's time for her to set the terms of the debates she's being dragged into against her will.

If Palin hasn't tired of the exposure and is conversely motivated and fueled by the attacks, maybe it's time for her to showcase her abilities. She was a newscaster and a journalism major. She understands the power of the television medium. She's done well with it. She's attractive and strong. When in front of the camera, she knows how to play the base like Mike Huckabee knows how to play the bass.

The age of Obama has shown that visual imagery is extremely powerful and being on offense while using it is far more desirable than constantly having to defend your honor with it.
