If you were told that a Muslim cabbie in Manhattan was stabbed by a deranged man over the ground zero mosque, you'd think it'd be a story tailor made for the leftwing media. What story could better demonstrate how that rabid right wing is totally out of control? Matthews and Olbermann should be salivating.
Small problem. The Muslim cabbie is against construction of the mosque and his attacker appears to support it.
...the alleged attacker, Michael Enright, worked with an organization that very much favors the project.
For another, the cabby, Ahmed Sharif, says he's opposed to it -- though Sharif does say that he's worried that debate over the planned project might have played a role in the attack.
Interesting similarity between this incident and the firebombing of the office of Rep. Russ Carnahan (D-MO), huh? The perpetrator was a Carnahan staffer.
People continue asking why Hillary Clinton is not speaking out about the ground zero mosque but when the Assistant Secretary of State speaks officially, it's as if Clinton is saying the words herself - unless that Assistant is fired. P.J. Crowley appears to be speaking for the State Department, which would mean he's also speaking for Hillary Clinton here. Crowley made news back in May, when he defended Michael Posner, another Assistant Secretary apologized for Arizona to the Chinese. In an awesome exchange, O'Reilly slammed Crowley over it.
Crowley is back, only this time he's defending Ground Zero mosque Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, who said that America has more blood on its hands than al Qaeda. It's a short clip so be sure to watch all the way to the end as Crowley's argument is that Rauf's words were taken out of context. Small problem P.J. There are plenty of clips from Rauf that corroborate this comment.
Perhaps Crowley should explain the 30 minute interview Rauf did on Egyptian radio and then try to say it was taken out of context.
More interesting things about Crowley... His bio lists him as being a former member of the Soros-funded / Podesta led Center for American Progress.
Philip J. (P.J.) Crowley previously served as a Senior Fellow and Director of Homeland Security at the Center for American Progress.....
....Prior to joining the Center for American Progress, he served as vice president of the Insurance Information Institute, focusing on strategic industry issues that included the impact of terrorism on commercial insurance in the aftermath of the World Trade Center tragedy.
There was a time when things like this would be scandalous. Now, they just illicit yawns.
Ever since 9/11, the mantra fed to the American people has been that Islam is a peaceful religion and that moderates vastly outnumber the radicals. Enter National Review's Andrew McCarthy, who is writing about how the notion of moderate Islam is a consequence of Saudi money flooding into our universities to further Saudi's brand of Islam while aligning with America's left. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi is an example cited by McCarthy.
Like Harvard, Georgetown has been purchased into submission by tens of millions of Saudi petrodollars. In its resulting ardor to put Americans at ease about Islam, the university somehow manages to look beyond Qaradawi’s fatwas calling for the killing of American troops in Iraq and for suicide bombings in Israel. Qaradawi, they tell us, is a “moderate.” In fact, as Robert Spencer quips, if you were to say Islam and secularism cannot co-exist, John Esposito, Georgetown’s apologist-in-chief, would call you an Islamophobe; but when Qaradawi says it, no problem — according to Esposito, he’s a “reformist.”
To illustrate this further, McCarthy quotes Qaradawi's own words:
...the call for secularism among Muslims is atheism and a rejection of Islam. Its acceptance as a basis for rule in place of Shari’ah is downright apostasy.
This is a level of hypocrisy the left simply cannot rationalize. It's slapping them in the face but they cannot feel it.
McCarthy continues:
The sad fact, the fact no one wants to deal with but which the Ground Zero mosque debate has forced to the fore, is that Qaradawi is a moderate. So is Feisal Rauf, who endorses the Qaradawi position — the mainstream Islamic position — that sharia is a nonnegotiable requirement.
The left should have woken up a long time ago but as these realities reveal themselves more clearly, it will.
UPDATE: Here's a video of McCarthy opposite an Imam with the NYC Dept of Corrections - a must see. Like Rauf, this Imam won't denounce Hamas as a terrorist organization either:
