SOCIALIST CAUCUS MEMBER AND CONGRESSWOMAN BUSTED!

Just what the socialists needed - more bad press. Texas congresswoman and member of the Democratic Socialists of America caucus Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D) has been busted violating the rules of the Congressional Black Caucus (yeah, I was shocked they had rules too). Johnson allegedly took money out of a CBC fund set up for its members causes and funneled it to relatives and friends to be used for college scholarships.

Via the Dallas Morning News:
Longtime Dallas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives and a top aide's two children since 2005, using foundation funds set aside for black lawmakers' causes.

The recipients were ineligible under anti-nepotism rules of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which provided the money. And all of the awards violated a foundation requirement that scholarship winners live or study in a caucus member's district.

Johnson, a Democrat, denied any favoritism when asked about the scholarships last week. Two days later, she acknowledged in a statement released by her office that she had violated the rules but said she had done so "unknowingly" and would work with the foundation to "rectify the financial situation."
If members of the CBC are allowed to plead ignorance of their own rules when busted, is there any incentive for following the rules? Are we to believe that this woman didn't have attorneys nearby that could have informed her that this was a violation? Puh-leeeeze.

Oh, one other thing. In addition to being a Democrat, Eddie Bernice Johnson is also one of the 30 CBC members - and one of 70 members in congress - that are confirmed socialists, registered with the Democratic Socialists of America caucus, which I blogged about HERE.

Big h/t to Gateway Pundit
