Claire Hirschkind was arrested at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AIBA) for refusing to go through checkpoint scanners and then refusing the intrusive TSA junk-touching pat down. Hirschkind's reason for not going through the scanner? She claimed she has the equivalent of a pacemaker in her chest. Her reason for being more sensitive than most about a government-sanctioned groping? She claimed to be a rape victim.
There are many absurdities revealed in this story but among them were two passengers interviewed by the KVUE reporter. Each said they felt safer as a result of passengers like Hirschkind having to go through the process. Here is the video report from Austin's ABC affiliate - KVUE:
