Occupy Des Moines to Occupy Iowa Caucus

The Occupy movement should be put on notice here. By planning to disrupt the Iowa Caucus, they are coming precariously close to doing there what the New Black Panther Party (NBPP) did in Philadelphia on election day in 2008; they are planning to disrupt an electoral process.

Election law experts are obviously better qualified to clarify how OWS would be in violation of election laws but with OWS telegraphing its intentions one month out, no one should be caught flat-footed.

Again, the group Obama supports through overt silence and sympathy.

  2. I am one of over thirty organizers in the First in the Nation Caucus Occupation Committee and I would like to clarify that in no way shape or form will we be occupying or disrupting the Jan. 3rd Iowa Caucus. We have been clear about that since the beginning. We encourage Iowans to attend and participate in their local caucus by submitting resolutions of their own. We know that the media will say what they want but it simply is false information.

  3. Hi, I'm Jeremy, One of the over 30 organizers of the First in the Nation Caucus Occupation Committee. I want to let you know that this is a complete falsehood. We in no way plan to Disrupt the Caucus on Jan 3.rd 2012. At this point, the people still reporting that we are going to shut down the caucus are telling lies, or have never done any research on this topic.

  4. You might want to know that the video you are using here talking about the caucus was removed from the TV-13 web site earlier today as they are looking at the accuracy of that report, in reference to the assertion that Occupy DSM plans to disrupt the caucus ( they are not). You may also want to note that MSNBC has added the following statement to the end of their report: "Occupy Des Moines says under no circumstances will they use violence to protest. They say from December 27th to January 2nd, they will show up at political events leading up to the caucuses but will not protest the actual caucus meetings. "

  6. My name is Jonathan and I am not very active in planning the Occupy Iowa pre caucus schedule of activities but am involved enough to know that claims of january 3rd caucus disruptions are not being planned, endorsed or encouraged by Occupy Des Moines. In fact, everyone I know involved with what I've come to know is a sincerely independent, decentralized, pro-democracy, anti-corruption movement are working hard to combat misrepresentations ment to discredit the cause. I support the occupy movement and active citizen participation and will insist the caucuses remain free and open. We are peaceful. We are the 99%.

  7. It is an honor to discover that the President supports us through silence and sympathy. I hope you'll join your namesake, Barrack, and do likewise!

  8. This is an outright calumny! Iowans disrupting their own caucus? My ancestors would rise up to stop such a thing. Luckily, it won't be happening. At ALL! EVER! Please be a responsible reporter, make a retraction, have MSNBC retract it, and, next time, don't shoot from the lip!
