Video: Prepare to be Emotionally Scarred

Is it any coincidence that one week after announcing he will not seek re-election, Rep. Barney Frank takes to the House Floor without covering up?

I think not.

It looks like he has some sort of brace on his left wrist, which could explain the lack of a suit and tie but it's no excuse for failing to button the jacket. Then again, it's probably gay pride.

I guess one COULD make the argument that the heirs of an estate didn't do anything to deserve receipt of that estate but for a member of a completely wasteful and irresponsible government to use that as justification for why that wasteful and irresponsible government DOES deserve more of it is beyond pathetic irony. To underscore the point, Barney says the heirs of an estate 'haven't worked hard.' How does he know that? The implication Barney makes is that he DOES work hard. I guess you can make that case too if you consider being front and center of the housing crisis hard work.

Adding to that pathetic irony is that the heir of the estate would probably produce more tax revenue for the wasteful and irresponsible government if he / she was allowed to keep it.

The annoying sound of Barney's voice in this video is almost matched by the visual of his blatant need for a pair of collar stays.

Barney Frank is in real trouble in his race with Sean Bielat. This ad isn't going to help the Banking Queen either. What's truly amazing is that there is a significant contingent of voters in Frank's district that actually thinks he's doing a good job, despite being largely responsible for the housing crisis. In fact, when you hear Barney refer to 'bubble' in this clip, it's taken from 2005 in which he advocated mortgages being given to people who couldn't afford them while saying there would be no housing bubble.

After a radio debate between Frank and Bielat at WGBH studios in Boston, Bielat makes himself available to the press for Q&A. It doesn't take long for Barney's boyfriend James Ready to begin heckling Bielat, who by the end of this clip, can't believe what he's witness to.

VIDEO: BARNEY FRANK AND THE TULIPS TAPES

This is an utterly amazing video montage from Verum Serum, originally captured by C-SPAN 2. It is from a speech Barney Frank gave at the National Press Club on December 11, 2006. This was a month after huge Republican losses in the elections. As a result, the Democrats would control congress. That included Frank being named head of the House Financial Services Committee only weeks after this speech.

As recently as this week, Frank sent a letter to the White House urging them to fight the Republicans, who wanted strict oversight and regulation of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac included in the current Wall Street reform bill. This level of gall is amazing since Fannie & Freddie are the Government-Sponsored Enterprises (GSE) most responsible for the mortgage crisis. POLITICO reported on May 5th:

In the memo, a copy of which was obtained by POLITICO, Frank made the case that Freddie and Fannie are being managed responsibly, and aren’t doing further economic damage to themselves now that they’ve been taken over by the government.

AUDIO: BARNEY FRANK WANTS TO CHANGE THE RULES...AGAIN

The far left looney Democrats are simply too emotionally invested in this health care monstrosity to stop now. The doubling down continues. When it comes to the Super Majority in the senate necessary to overcome a filibuster, Barney wants to do away with it at a time when it's inconvenient for passage of the health care monstrosity.

Barney provides further audacity by invoking the Constitution to support his claim. Uh, Barney, do you really want to go there at this point?



Now for those wondering what Barney's opinion was back in 2005 when Bush's judicial nominees were getting filibustered constantly, I found this excerpt from the Boston Herald on Free Republic although the link to the actual article is dead.

WASHINGTON - U.S. Rep. Barney Frank, who publicly crusaded against Senate filibusters 12 years ago, now says he opposes banning filibusters against judicial nominees - the so-called "nuclear option" fueling a bruising Capitol Hill showdown.

"I would vote against changing the filibuster rule right now,'' Frank (D-Newton) told the Herald in a telephone interview Thursday. Frank explained he still supports an "across-the-board'' ban against all filibusters, but he opposes the Republican "nuclear option'' because it only outlaws filibusters against judicial nominees.

"I object to (a filibuster ban) being used in a very specific instance,'' Frank said. "If they make an improvement going forward, I would maybe look at it differently.''

Frank's comments come as the Senate braces for a showdown vote over President Bush's filibustered judicial picks, a battle that could affect federal justices from the district level all the way to the next Supreme Court nominee.

In 1993, Frank led a public fight to end Senate filibusters, asserting in a Washington Post op-ed piece: "I believe legislative bodies should scrupulously abide by two principles: complete openness and majority rule. The filibuster is a godsend to potential gridlockers.''

Republicans at the time were using filibusters to block President Clinton's agenda in the Democratic-controlled Senate. Today, it is frustrated Democrats in the GOP-run Senate who are using filibuster tactics to block Bush's judicial nominees, whom they consider to be too conservative.

The time-honored Senate practice of the filibuster, whereby lawmakers can block a nominee or a bill by refusing to stop debating, has sparked acrimony on Capitol Hill expected to reach a climax this week. Sixty of 100 Senate votes are required to kill a filibuster.

Republicans, who accuse Democrats of blocking Bush's judge picks for sheer partisan advantage, want a straight up-or-down majority vote on the president's court picks. Their bill would outlaw filibusters against judicial nominees.

Frank scoffed at Republican claims Bush is being unfairly shortchanged on nominees.

The Newton Democrat recalled the nomination of former Bay State Gov. William F. Weld to be ambassador to Mexico. GOP senators blocked a vote on Weld because they questioned his conservative credentials. "Why didn't the Republicans apply the same standard to Bill Weld?'' Frank asked.

Quite obvious that Barney is AGAINST the filibuster when Democrats have a majority but not a super-majority and he's FOR it when Republicans have the majority but not a super-majority. In 2005, the Republicans had a majority of 55 senators. At that time, Barney re-calibrated his position by saying the filibuster should NOT be banned in the case of judicial nominees. So, Barney was for the filibuster after he was against it and before he was against it again. Beautiful.

Let's also not forget that while the Social Security reform initiative Bush attempted was also met with Democrat resistance in the form of a threat to filibuster. Wouldn't you love to know what Barney's view were on that one too?

DID BARNEY FRANK REALLY SAY THAT?

Doug Ross posts an interesting conundrum for Barack Obama courtesy of Barney Frank's convoluted speech patterns. Frank clearly had a 'Joe Biden' moment on this one. All along the way during this Healthcare debate, Amabo has been saying everyone will be able to keep their individual plan.

We all know that defies logic and common sense but as long as the Dems are singing from the same sheet of music and spewing the same lies in a United Front, their logic says that they can get enough people snookered.

Quoting Frank in an interview with Single Payer Action...

I think the best way we’re going to get single payer – the only way – is to have a public option demonstrate its strength and power.

Mr. Obama, would you care to respond to that one?

Here is a recent quote from Obama about his plan....

It will keep government out of health care decisions, giving you the option to keep your (private) insurance if you’re happy with it.

So how do they spin this disparity? One way might be to say that when you have two chronic liars, they cancel each other out and you get the truth.

Yeah, right.
