This is just plain creepy. It's definitely a softer version of what Jim Jones got the more than 900 people who followed him to commit suicide but it's very similar in two respects. The leader - in this case Krugman - espouses "death panels and higher taxes". The reaction he got was one of laughing approval. Who in their right mind cheers for death and taxes?
No one, which is more than enough evidence that these people are not in their right minds.
It's extremely bizarre to see and hear people cheer or laugh at something that will lead to either their own premature deaths or the premature deaths of their loved ones. It's a macabre form of groupthink and it's exactly what happened when New York Times liberal columnist Paul Krugman told an audience at an historic Synagogue in Washington, D.C. last week exactly that.
Listen not to what Krugman says at about the 2:15 mark but also to how the crowd reacts.
h/t Breitbart:
Here is video of Rep. Leo Ryan (D) in Jonestown the night before more than 900 followers of Jim Jones ended their lives. Note how loudly the crowd cheers when Ryan states people in the cult think it's the "best thing that ever happened to them in their whole life".
One day later, Ryan was shot dead by Jones' thugs and all of the people who cheered, took their own lives. Is that something to cheer about?
Think it's a stretch? Do you remember the reaction Robert Reich got when, in 2007, he advocated death panels and higher health care costs while speaking at Berkeley? In fact, the laughter Reich elicited was even more pronounced than what Krugman got. The students cheered the premature deaths of their parents as well as a future in which they would live fewer years as well.
Three weeks before Rep. Ryan showed up in Guyana in 1978, the people held a vote - led by Jones - in which they unanimously voted to commit suicide. How is what Krugman and Reich have advocated any different?
Oh, and another similarity... Jones ingratiated himself with Democrats.
Relevant portion starts at the 4:40 mark

ABOUT THOSE DEATH PANELS: SARAH PALIN WAS RIGHT OVER A YEAR AGO
On September 9, 2009 during a joint session of Congress, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) shouted 'You Lie' after Barack Obama claimed that his new health care plan would not apply to illegal aliens. Wilson suffered the wrath of his fellow congressmen and was censured. In the many months that have passed, he continues to be vindicated. In fact, it turns out that the only critique of his shout at this point would be relative to its timing. Before Obama uttered the words that garnered the now infamous response, he chided 'prominent politicians' (Sarah Palin and John Boehner) for asserting that the new bill would include 'death panels' and then proceeded to say the charge was 'a lie, pure and simple.'
Thanks to a New York Times article on Christmas Day, it is Obama who is once again proven to be the liar and Joe Wilson the courageous American patriot, who as a freshman, shouldn't have been the one to shout those two words. They should have come from a seasoned Senator like John McCain, who chastised Wilson.
As usual, Jeffrey Lord over at American Spectator provides spot-on analysis.
Here's the video of Obama calling Death Panels a 'Lie.'
Here is John 'wrong again' McCain after Obama's speech, chastising Wilson.

VIDEO: ORSZAG CONFIRMS DEATH PANELS
Video of Obama Budget Director Peter Orszag on April 8th at the Economic Club of Washington, D.C. confirms that when Sarah Palin wrote about Obamacare having "death panels", she was right. While Orszag doesn't use such overt terms, he overtly revealed what the Independent Payment Advisory Board will be all about.
There's no way he would have been this open before Obamacare was passed. Take note when Orszag says the IPAD - not that iPad - is "more important to the future of our fiscal health than the CBO". He also emphasizes that the Board will focus on "quality" and not "quantity" of care while declaring that it has aggressive cost cutting goals. The Board will be virtually unaccountable to anyone according to Orszag who boasts that its proposals - that would be individual proposals - would have to be legislated away by Congress.
While this Independent Payment Advisory Board may be able to impact "fiscal health" more effectively than the CBO, the latter was never given the authority to do so by witholding health care from American citizens.
There shouldn't be any doubt that the Tea Party was right and Obamacare supporters have been duped, brainwashed, or both.

VIDEO: JONAH GOLDBERG ON DEATH PANELS
No doubt the left wing kooks like Shepard Smith are going to label Goldberg's claims absurd but even if he's off base on his conclusions, it's pretty hard to argue with his premise that bureaucracies tend to drift in whatever direction ambiguous language leads them.
Check out what Goldberg had to say. Personally, I liked his "culled from the tribe" reference.
