It is quite clear that Colin Powell views the world most through a racial lens. On Meet the Press, he defended his two votes for Barack Obama and claimed that there is a 'dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the (Republican) Party', saying it has lurched too far to the right. He then shockingly said that the Party's move to the right is why the Republicans lost the election.
Lost on him is the fact that Barack Obama is the most left-wing president in U.S. history and the Republican Party's nominee for president in 2012 was a moderate. Yet, Powell says he is still a Republican and that he's a 'moderate'.
Apparently, Powell is willing to overlook Obama's countless affiliations with some very intolerant people.
Moreover, following Powell's logic, the Tea Party is more intolerant than Occupy Wall Street, which has a website devoted to glorifying its high number of arrests.
He's either lying or so blinded by race that he's afflicted with an extreme case of denial.

Video: Rep. Raul Labrador on Media attacking Mormonism
While appearing on NBC's Meet the Press, Rep. Raul Labrador (R-ID) was asked about Republican Senator Orrin Hatch's contention that the Obama administration would attack Mitt Romney over the latter's Mormonism. Labrador agreed, saying that the administration would use the media to do it. Feigning ignorance, Gregory asked the congressman to explain. Labrador proceeded to point to MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell's attacks on the religion.
Via MediaIte:
David Gregory's attempt to play innocent was laughable. While appearing on Jay Leno recently, Gregory did EXACTLY what O'Donnell did, albeit in a far more subtle way. O'Donnell's coverage of Mormonism was meant to expose and demean the religion. In his exchange with Leno, Gregory suggested that Romney should talk about his Mormonism because his nomination is so monumental that he won't be able to avoid it.
Both O'Donnell and Gregory work for NBC / MSNBC and both are doing the same thing - calling attention to Mormonism - via different means, while employing the "good cop / bad cop" strategy. Here is Gregory with Jay Leno. Note the subtlety he uses to encourage Romney to expose Mormonism. In light of the clip with Labrador above, Gregory is officially exposed as an apparatchik.
Here is the clip of O'Donnell that Labrador was referring to on Meet the Press:
This clip of O'Donnell is even more scathing of Romney's religion. Frankly, team Romney is going to have a very hard time batting this one away:

Video: Liberal Media scared Romney might lose
Liberals lie. It's what they do. Once you accept that premise, this exchange on Meet the Press is much easier to process. The narrative among the establishment is that Mitt Romney has the best chance to beat Obama. I still haven't figured out the thick-headedness of the Republican establishment and why it believes that. Mitt Romney will be filleted if he wins the nomination.
Enter Helene Cooper, the White House correspondent for the New York Times. As such, she is an undeniable liberal. Therefore, she lies. Take note of what she says here. The Obama administration thinks it will "crush" Santorum or Gingrich but is just confident that it can beat Romney. Assuming that liberals lie - which they do - why would the White House issue that message? Because it really wants to face Romney. Think about it. Why would a liberal tell the truth?
h/t Hapblog:
This recent piece by CNN shows exactly why the White House wants to face Romney. His religion will become a central issue if he wins the nomination. Look for the media to pull back on pieces like this for a while, as long as Romney's nomination is in doubt:

VIDEO: MSM LICKING BLOGGER INFLICTED WOUNDS
I just love it when Leftwing Mainstream Media kooks get indignant about bloggers or anyone else foreign to their elitist bubble who happens to disagree with them. This week, on Meet The Press, Thomas Friedman borders on separating from his body and sitting beside himself.
First up in this clip, the panelists debate the outrage over Obama's speech to public school students. Friedman comes unglued while Rudy Guiliani does a great job of articulating the real concerns of parents. In short, it's a mistrust of Obama, his administration, and this government. Has anyone noticed how many people had to bow out of his administration? Has anyone noticed the number of lies he's told? Friedman just rambles on like he never even heard Rudy's point.
By the way, is it really the job of journalists to tell us what public perception should be or is it their job to report on why those perceptions exist? The so-called "objective" journalists exposed themselves again today. Friedman, in particular, when he called that which he didn't understand, "stupid".
Then the discussion moves over to the Van Jones story. Friedman and Brokaw both break into diatribes that attempt to demean bloggers while elevating their elitist selves. The problem is that neither one of them even remotely addresses the real issue. Specifically, bloggers, spurned on by Glenn Beck's REAL REPORTING uncovered the truth about Van Jones, the ugliest of which is that he supports a cop killer on death row (Mumia Abu Jamal). Friedman and Brokaw go off into tangents about how bloggers better be careful or they're going to lose their privacy.
The truth is that Van Jones had to resign without ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNN, or the New York Times doing any reporting on him.
If you ask me, that's what is really bugging Brokaw and Friedman.
It's really fun to watch these elitists feign indignation without even realizing they have been thoroughly spanked by those who they see as beneath them. Also, take note of how Rudy is smiling as Friedman hangs himself with a fallaciously righteous rope.
This video might soon show up on the Discovery Channel. We don't often get the opportunity to see wounded animals lick their wounds like this.
