Videos: the Tale of two Labor Secretaries

This is quite the contrast. First up, Barack Obama's Labor Secretary, Hilda Solis. She literally says that unemployment checks actually helps the economy because the recipients of those checks spend them.

Here is Elaine Chao, Labor Secretary from 2001 - 2009. This interview is about one year old but when compared to the insanity enunciated by Solis above, it's quite a salient contrast between logic and the absurd notion that unemployment checks stimulate the economy.

Oh, both Solis and Chao are minorites.

Labor Secretary: Use those Unemployment Benefits to start new businesses

It's typically not a good idea to use pejoratives when making arguments against those with opposing views. Then again, there comes a point when you're actually lying by NOT using them. In this case, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis is an idiot and an argument can be made that it's not even a pejorative; it's a statement of fact.

At the end of this clip, you will hear her say that she wants people to use their "UI" (Unemployment Insurance) benefits to start new businesses.

Idiot, right?

Via Washington Free Beacon:

There are generally two groups of people who rely on unemployment benefits. One group has no desire to be productive and wants the government to take care of them. Does anyone honestly think those people are going to take interest in suddenly becoming productive when they get the benefits for doing nothing? The second group of people are those who are using every cent of those benefits to pay for necessities like food and rent. In light of the rising food and gas prices - which are not calculated in the inflation index - does anyone for a minute think such people are going to prioritize starting a new business over feeding their families?

Like I said, idiot.

Then again, maybe she's doing her Jim Carrey impression in Fun with Dick and Jane. After thinking he was getting a promotion, Carrey's character found himself to be nothing more than the company's fall guy with the media.

Video: Either Obama was Lying or he Believes we're not in a Recession

It wasn't that long ago that the debate over the debt ceiling was the top headline. Remember how everyone settled on deficit reduction numbers over the next ten years? The Tea Party didn't want to go along with it but enough House members caved to get it done. Barack Obama's new plan almost perfectly illustrates the problem. He wants to reduce increases in deficit spending (note, he doesn't want to reduce spending, just increases in additional spending) by raising taxes to the tune of $1.5 trillion. There is a very basic economic tenet which says you don't raise taxes in a recession. As recently as August of 2009, Barack Obama himself espoused this principle.

Via Breitbart:

Ok, so for Obama to want to raise taxes, he must believe we are not in a recession, right?

Via the AP:
WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's proposal to reduce long-term deficits with $1.5 trillion in new taxes is less an opening bid in a negotiation than it is an opening salvo in a struggle to draw sharp contrasts with congressional Republicans.

Obama's proposal is aimed predominantly at the wealthy and comes just days after House Speaker John Boehner ruled out tax increases to lower deficits. It also comes amid a clamor in his own Democratic Party for Obama to take a tougher stance against Republicans. And while the plan stands little chance of passing Congress, its populist pitch is one that the White House believes the public can support.

The core of the president's plan totals just more than $2 trillion in deficit reduction over 10 years. It combines the new taxes with $580 billion in cuts to mandatory benefit programs, including $248 billion from Medicare.
So, which is it, Mr. Obama?

Were you lying in 2009 (that's a shocker) or do you believe we're not in a recession now? If it's the latter, don't tell the Congressional Black Caucus. They're already mad at you for the high unemployment among the black community. Say, doesn't that mean we're in a recession?

Video: Obama Administration Montage on Jobs

By any standard, Barack Obama has failed when it comes to all those times since his inauguration when he pledged to make 'jobs' his priority. Throughout the first two and a half years, this administration has been focused on things like health care. The narrative throughout has been one of two things. After things like Obamacare are signed into law, the administration pivots to focus on jobs. While things like Obamacare were being debated and legislated, they assure the public that they were multi-tasking and jobs were still a priority.

This montage says it all. The most amazing part about it? Produced by Huffington Post:

VIDEO: OBAMA JUMPS ON 'UNEMPLOYMENT CHECKS BOOST ECONOMY' BANDWAGON

Either Barack Obama has no clue where money comes from and is as intellectually bankrupt as our nation is fiscally or he is intentionally destroying the U.S. economy. After watching this, there can be no doubt it's one of the two. The president of the United States is now on record as saying the best way to boost the economy is to extend unemployment benefits. We heard Pelosi say it and we even heard Keith Olbermann rant about it for well over ten minutes but now we know the captain of the ship is driving that message.

At its core, the premise of this convoluted logic is that the best way to increase production is to pay people not to produce. Here is the relevant quote:
"This tax package does a couple of things immediately for economic growth in Florida. Number one, for those folks looking for work right now, it extends their unemployment benefits. Two million people across the country would lose their unemployment benefits at the end of this month if we did not move forward on this tax agreement. And economists say that not only is that good for those families, it's good for the entire economy. It's probably the biggest boost that we can give an economy because those folks are most likely to spend the money with businesses, and that gives them customers," President Obama told Tampa Bay's Channel 8.
CLICK HERE FOR THE VIDEO. After watching that nonsense, a Scripture passage came to mind.
ISAIAH 3: 1-4

1 FOR BEHOLD, the Lord, the Lord of hosts, is taking away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff [every kind of prop], the whole stay of bread and the whole stay of water,

2 The mighty man and the man of war, the judge and the [professional] prophet, the one who foretells by divination and the old man,

3The captain of fifty and the man of rank, the counselor and the expert craftsman and the skillful enchanter.

4And I will make boys their princes, and with childishness shall they rule over them [with outrage instead of justice].
For some reason, that just seemed to fit.

VIDEO: BLUMENTHAL CLUELESS ON JOB CREATION

This was truly a Smackdown on the part of Linda McMahon, wife of WWE head Vince McMahon. This one's been floating around for a couple of days but definitely worth posting. The Senate race is for one of the two Connecticut seats. The candidates are Democrat Dick 'I lied about my service in Vietnam' Blumenthal and the Republican, McMahon. McMahon asks Blumenthal how to create a job and he wallows in his own incoherence for about a solid minute.

McMahon then explains it perfectly in about ten seconds.

VIDEO: UNEMPLOYMENT RATE PROGRESSION

This video is only 38 seconds long but worth the watch. Take note that the color black represents unemployment rates of 10% or higher. Video starts out with January, 2007 and progresses by month and by county through May 2010. For those who see unemployment figures reported consistently but fail to connect the dots, this will definitely put things in the proper perspective. Watch America go black before your eyes. Pay particular attention to California and Michigan but they're not alone.

VIDEO: Shhhhhh. Listen. Can you Hear those jobs?

Priceless. House Republicans presented a United Front on the House floor by individually asking Obama where the jobs are that he promised via the stimulus. Adding additional credibility to this tack is the fact that House Republicans unanimously opposed the stimulus bill and all but three Senate Republicans did (Snowe, Collins, and Specter).

Arlen Specter, at the time a RINO, has since decided to unmask himself and defect to the Democrats while in the race of his life in 2010 for his senate seat in the heavily blue state of Pennsylvania.

Nicely Done, House Repubs.
