Ron Paul Catching the Wrath of Sheila Jackson Lee

One of the members of the racist group known as the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) is going after Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) over the racist comments that appeared in the latter's newsletters.

One of the newsletter articles described Rep. Barbara Jordan, a Houston Democrat revered in the civil rights community, as “the archetypal half-educated victimologist, yet her race and sex protect her from criticism.”

The story was covered extensively by the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express-News in 1996, when Paul sought to reclaim a seat in Congress, and 2007, when Paul was running for the Republican presidential nomination. But the newsletters did not receive significant media attention until last week, when the Texas congressman took the lead in the Iowa presidential caucuses.

Today, the woman who represents the Houston congressional district long represented by Jordan demanded an apology.

“Ron Paul cannot continue to pursue the position of the presidency of the United States of America without formally apologizing and discussing his true positions regarding these newsletter writings,” Jackson Lee said in a statement.

Moments like these lend themselves to Alien vs. Predator comparisons, where both sides are bad and you just want to see each go after the other.

The comment from Paul about Jordan, if she was anything like Lee, is probably not that far off, especially when it comes to her intellect.

Lee, a vice-chair for the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) caucus, once asked if the Mars rover would be able to get some video of the flag Neil Armstrong planted.

Frankly, if Paul wants to see an increase in support, he should probably stand behind the portion of the newsletter that Lee objects to. His problems are likely to come from the likes of David Duke and Donald Black, the founder of STORMFRONT and former American Nazi Party member. They have both expressed support for Paul, in part, based on the content in those newsletters.

As a Republican, Paul could benefit from some raised dander on any member of the CBC but his alleged anti-Israel views coupled with a David Duke endorsement (Duke has said he will vote for Paul but has not officially endorsed him), won't do him any favors.

Video: Another Member of Congressional Black Caucus Cites Constitutionality of Obamacare

In addition to Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX), Rep. John Lewis (D-GA) is another Democrat who's decided to actually cite the U.S. Constitution in defense of Obamacare. It's completely mis-applied and ridiculous on its face but at least they've decided it's better than Nancy Pelosi's decision to scoff at the question and mock the questioner when she was asked about it back in 2009. More evidence the Tea Party is framing the terms of the debate.

Laughably, both Lewis and Lee are not only members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) but they're registered socialists. Talk about an oxymoron - Socialists are citing the U.S. Constitution to justify socialist policies that are antithetical to the Constitution. The good news is if they're going to argue they're on the right side of the Constitution, they'll lose.

Here's John Lews citing the Fourteenth Amendment - as did Lee - as justification for the individual mandate. In particular, he focuses on the part in Section 1 that says persons should have equal protection under the law. That doesn't answer the question about whether Obamacare is constitutional; it simply says that people will have equal protection under an unconstitutional law.

Here's Nancy Pelosi before Lee and Lewis decided to point to the Fourteenth Amendment. Look for the Democrats in general to pick up the mantra of Lee and Lewis and get ready for some laughs.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Hou) Cites Constitution to Defend Obamacare

There is good news here. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee is actually citing the U.S. Constitution in her defense of Obamacare. In particular, she's pointing to the Fourteenth Amendment, Section 1. The part she points to in that section is the part about states not being allowed to deny citizens 'equal protection of the laws.' Yes, that's beyond laughable but it's another sign that the Tea Party is not only framing the terms of the debate - the Constitutionality of this monstrosity - but will likely win it.

The biggest argument against Obamacare being constitutional is the Individual mandate, which says that the Federal government is authorized to force citizens to purchase something. Lee's defense is basically that those who can't afford that mandate are entitled to the money of those that can. Yes, Lee is pointing to the Fourteenth Amendment to justify wealth re-distribution.

This is Classic.

Jackson Lee wasn't done. The next day, she went on the House Floor and cited the Fifth Amendment, again pointing to the part about pursuit of life, liberty, or property. If she would have kept reading, she'd have stumbled across the last sentence, which says, 'nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.'

Unwittingly, she makes the case against Obamacare by citing this Amendment. Money in my possession is inherently my private property. Therefore, an individual mandate that says I must buy health insurance so that those who can't afford it may have it also is wealth re-distribution and theft. Obamacare takes private property and makes it for public use. More patients and less doctors is hardly just compensation.

Ms. Jackson Lee, PLEASE keep talking.

REP. SHEILA JACKSON LEE WANTS HOLDER TO MONITOR VOTER INTIMIDATION

U.S. Rep. from Texas, Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Houston) is apparently trying to leverage two things in her favor while reaching out to Attorney General Eric Holder - she's black and she's a Democrat. Perhaps she was further emboldened by how the New Black Panther Party case of voter intimidation was handled by Holder's department. Lee is calling on Holder to send people to her district to monitor what she is calling instances of voter intimidation. I'm not making this up.

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-Texas) is asking the Department of Justice to investigate whether tea party groups are intimidating black and Hispanic voters in her district.

Jackson Lee has asked Attorney General Eric Holder to send poll monitors to her district on Nov. 2 to make sure the King Street Patriots, a local conservative voter turnout and tea party group, aren’t stopping people from voting.

“Many of these incidents of voter intimidation have been occurring in predominately minority neighborhoods and have been directed at African-Americans and Latinos,” she said in the letter. “It is unconscionable to think that anyone would deliberately employ the use of such forceful and intimidating tactics in 2010 to undermine the fundamental, constitutional right to vote.”

The Politico article goes on to say that the King Street Patriots are openly welcoming such visits. In fact, in light of what was revealed last week, Lee may be overplaying her hand as there are written accounts from poll watchers in her district that she herself was electioneering at voting booths in her district.

Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Houston) violated election laws when, on Tuesday, October 19 [corrected: date was wrongly noted as the 18th], she entered into Acres Home Multiservice Community Center, walked to where the voting booths were looking for the poll watchers, greeted voters there, and then found and confronted the poll watchers before being directed to, and then asked by, the presiding judge Bernard Gurski to leave the area.

Let's get this straight. An elected official is electioneering at polling stations within her district, is asked to leave for violating the law, and then that same elected official complains to the U.S. Attorney General that voter intimidation is taking place.

Huh? It gets better. Lee apparently tried to confront the alleged voter intimidation first hand while electioneering illegally at the polling station:

While this occurred, the poll watcher heard Lee loudly say to the crowd in the voting area,”I’ve heard a lot of complaints about voter intimidation by poll watchers. I am not going to allow voter intimidation.”

The poll watcher started writing the incident down.

Lee then went to the poll watcher and asked,”What’s your name? Who do you represent?”

A poll watcher is not allowed to speak in the polling area, so directed Congresswoman Lee to the presiding judge. The poll watcher said that Congresswoman Lee indicated that she wanted names to report to the Department of Justice for voter intimidation.

Perhaps we are witnessing some unintended consequences for the leadership of the Justice Department after they so egregiously dropped voter intimidation charges against the Black Panthers. A U.S. Representative allegedly breaks election laws and is attempting to intimidate those who upheld those laws through the U.S. Department of Justice.

We're about to see if Eric Holder has any limit at all to how low he'll go.

VIDEO: JACKSON LEE VICTIM OF DOCTORED VIDEO

There is absurd, there is patently absurd, and then there is the Sheila Jackson Lee standard. After the YouTube video of her talking on a cell phone as a woman tried to ask her a question made its rounds, Lee appeared on CNN with Rick Sanchez.

At one point, Lee floated the notion that the video of her interrupting a questioner by talking on her cell phone may have been "doctored".

Tip to Sheila. When your argument causes apolplexy on the face of Rick Sanchez, you may want to retreat. Here's the video of Lee placing Sanchez firmly beside himself.

VIDEO: MORE FALLOUT FROM SHEILA JACKSON LEE TOWN HALL

Roxana Mayer was in the audience at Sheila Jackson Lee's town hall. In fact, she was in the front row and was given the opportunity to ask a question. During her question, she said she was a physician, at which point Lee thanked her while giving her a hug.

Small problem. It appears that Mayer ISN'T a doctor at all. Thanks to some excellent work at PATTERICO, Mayer actually admitted as much via email correspondence.

However, there are two things we DO know about Roxana that should be identified as relevant:

1.) She was an Obama state delegate
2.) She doesn't live in Sheila Jackson Lee's district (how'd she get that front row seat?)

Interesting developments to be sure but Patterico also has a link to a LONE STAR TIMES piece you definitely want to see. In addition to their claim that Mayer actually admitted to lying because she thought it would help her credibility (ah, so many dimensions to the backward left), LST id's a woman that accompanied Mayer to Lee's town hall as Maria Isabel, who ran an Obama campaign office that proudly displayed a Che Guevara flag (LST has the actual photo of Isabel seated behind Mayer).

Refresh my memory. What side of this debate was being accused of astro-turfing again? The conservatives are being accused of fake grass roots despite all of the evidence nearly exclusively to the contrary. Obama's advisor, David Axelrod, practically invented it. I guess astro-turfing is such a sleazy enterprise that part of it actually involves demonizing your opponents by accusing them of doing it.

Back to Mayer at the town hall.....

In a show of shoddy journalism, even the Houston Chronicle id'd Mayer as a doctor on August 11th. Here is the caption under the photo of the Mayer-Lee embrace:

Then, after it became apparent that Mayer was lying, the Chronicle changed the caption:

But the Chronicle's change didn't exactly come with an open admission of a mistake. Wouldn't you think if the Chronicle was a real newspaper, they'd investigate this alleged fraud? Impersonating a police officer is a serious crime. Why isn't impersonating a doctor in a public forum in order to push an ideological agenda serious as well? It may not be illegal but it is more than just a little unethical and should be investigated.

If this is true (it looks pretty ironclad at the moment), what does it say about the Houston Chronicle if they don't investigate this new story further?

Be sure to read the email correspondence and get a much more detailed chronology of events at PATTERICO'S PONTIFICATIONS. An additional touch of irony provided when Mayer derides Frey's journalistic qualifications. It would seem, at least in this case, he was better qualified than was the Houston Chronicle.

Here's a video of the exchange between Lee and Mayer. Frankly, Mayer's status as a doctor should have been questioned when she said, "..we're deficient is that um, we are like so poor..."

VIDEO: DEMOCRAT CONGRESSWOMAN DISSES QUESTIONER

Texas Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-HOU) paid zero respect to a constituent whose lone opportunity to speak to Lee directly was taking place. The arrogance Lee was exuding was so palpable that I wouldn't be surprised if audience members choked on it.

It struck me as a childish and feeble attempt to lash out at someone who was making her feel very uncomfortable. What better way to do that than to answer a cell phone while a lowly constituent is offering forth heartfelt concerns you could care less about.

I'd say this provides a perfect example for why town halls via telephone are a bad idea.

If Lee is willing to rudely gesticulate with a cell phone where people could see her, imagine what things she might do if she decided to use the "conference call town hall" format. She'd probably have call waiting and roll her eyes when others were talking.
