Leftists just Refuse to Learn: Founder of Group that helped overthrow Mubarak face to face with reality

Ahmed Maher is an Egyptian who co-founded the April 6th Movement, a leftist group formed circa 2008 to fight for social justice and other left-wing causes in Egypt and elsewhere. Ultimately, Maher's movement was instrumental in the overthrow of Egypt's Hosni Mubarak in early 2011.

Now, two years later, an Irish news source is reporting that Maher has come to a realization. According to RTE News, Mather tweeted the following after brutal crackdowns on protesters by the Muslim Brotherhood president Mohamed Morsi. Here is Maher's tweet:

"Mursi has been stripped bare and has lost his legitimacy. Done," tweeted Ahmed Maher, founder of the April 6 youth movement that helped launch the anti-Mubarak protests.

In the fall of 2011, several months after Mubarak's fall, the Occupy Wall Street (OWS) movement went on an offensive. Van Jones, fellow at the Center for American Progress (CAP) and former Obama administration Green Jobs czar, promoted OWS publicly on MSNBC. On 9/29/11, he called for "an American fall" (a not-so-subtle reference to 'Arab Spring'). About six weeks later - on CNN - Jones called for ratcheting up the protests.

Let's get back to Maher for a moment.

Jones' CAP caught up with Maher, who had traveled to the U.S. and was at Occupy Washington, D.C. a few weeks after Jones called for that 'American fall' on MSNBC. Here is the video of that interview:

This should be an extremely teachable moment not just for Maher but for all of the leftists in the U.S. Perhaps no one has enunciated this dynamic as well as Andrew McCarthy, who wrote in his book - The Grand Jihad:

Revolutionaries of Islam and the Left make fast friends when there is a common enemy to besiege. Leftists, however are essentially nihilists whose hazy vision prioritizes power over what is to be done with power. They are biddable. Islamists, who have very settled convictions about what is to be done with power, are much less so. Even their compromises keep their long-term goals in their sights. Thus do Leftists consistently overrate their ability to control Islamists. Factoring the common denominator, power, out of the equation, something always beats nothing.

While the left in America - to include the Obama administration - spends practically every waking moment plotting to defeat Christians, conservatives, and Republicans, groups like the Muslim Brotherhood egg them on while Obama's ventriloquist dummies run interference for Brotherhood groups in America through the media.

Unfortunately, it's not just the left in America that is furthering the cause of Islamists. It's also the John McCain wing of the Republican Party.

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) introduced a bill that would stop shipment of Abrams tanks to the Muslim Brotherhood's Mohamed Morsi in Egypt. More Republicans voted to continue sending those tanks than those who sided with Paul.

What happened to Maher is another in a long line of examples that western leaders continue to refuse to learn from.

Perhaps those leaders should start reading their Bibles.

The case of Mohamed ElBaradei and be careful what you wish for

As the 'Arab Spring' was dawning in Egypt in early 2011, perhaps one of the most prominent and loudest voices that demanded the ouster of Hosni Mubarak was former Director of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Mohamed ElBaradei. Here is an excerpt of an interview he gave a short time before Mubarak stepped down.

SPIEGEL: Shouldn't you be headed down to Tahrir Square to try to use your authority to calm people down there?

ElBaradei: I was there once, and things broke out in turmoil. I need to watch out for my own safety. There are people who think they'd be doing the regime a favor by killing me. The longer things continue on this way with Mubarak, the clearer it becomes that the country is imploding both politically and economically. Mubarak must go; not at some point, but now. I believe the Americans are also getting very impatient.

SPIEGEL: You've given Mubarak an ultimatum. It expired on Friday, which the demonstrators dubbed the "day of departure" ...

ElBaradei: ... and I will say it again: He must go away quickly. I'm sure that some Arab country will take him in. I've heard from Bahrain. If he still has one spark of patriotism, this is his last chance.

As Egypt's newly elected Muslim Brotherhood leader Muhammad Mursi doubles down on dictatorship at breakneck speed, ElBaradei's perception of the implosion of Egypt in early 2011 is nothing compared to what he's seeing now. As for his comment to Der Spiegel that the "Americans are also getting very impatient," his recent comments indicate that he would like to see that impatience continue but, to this point, the White House has been virtually silent over Mursi's most recent power grab.

Morsi decreed Nov. 22 that his pronouncements and edicts were beyond the reach of judicial review. The announcement was met by resistance from the nation’s top judges, who said they would fight Morsi’s unusual self-elevation to near-dictator status.

“I am waiting to see, I hope soon, a very strong statement of condemnation by the U.S., by Europe and by everybody who really cares about human dignity,” declared Mohamed ElBaradei, who is one of Egypt’s more visible non-Islamist politicians.

This was a very foreseeable problem. Those of us who saw the 'Arab Spring' for what it was had far better vision than the likes of ElBaradei, who is becoming like another in a long line of Arab secularists who never seem to learn that when it comes down to them vs. the Islamists, the Islamists always seem to win.

As for that American (Obama administration) impatience now compared to then, Munroe seemed to sum that up quite succinctly:

There has been no White House response to ElBaradei’s Nov. 24 comments.

To be fair to ElBaradei, he's not the only secularist who was wrong. Just look at practically every Democratic politician in the U.S., a handful of Republicans, and the mainstream media.

It isn't rocket science but liberal secularists still never get it.

Is John McCain throwing stones from a glass house when he criticizes Obama over Benghazi comments?

One of the loudest voices in Congress to go after Barack Obama for saying, "if four Americans get killed, it's not optimal" has been Senator John McCain. While McCain is right in this instance, his positions up to this point leave him very little high ground from which to speak.

“Even from someone like the president, who has never known what these kinds of tragedies are about and the service and sacrifice that people make, it’s still just — I can’t even get angry,” Sen. John McCain, the ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee, said Thursday night on Fox News’s “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”

“It’s just so inappropriate,” McCain continued. “And I’m sure that the families of those brave Americans are not amused.”

A problem for McCain is that he supported Obama's policy in Libya, the same policy that has allowed al-Qaeda to flourish in places like Benghazi.

Remember when McCain referred to the Libyan rebels as "my heroes" during his visit to Benghazi in April of 2011, when many of us knew better then (pay attention at the 1:05 mark)?



Also during that visit, McCain walked right by a Benghazi courthouse that only weeks earlier had been the site of a black man being beheaded by rebels. Here is video of McCain walking past the scene of that atrocity. None other than Christopher Stevens can be seen walking behind him.

McCain is taking the right position when it comes to arguing that the Benghazi consulate should have been more secure. Unfortunately, the position he took in 2011 was absolutely the wrong position. As bad as Gadhafi was, al-Qaeda was kept at bay and if he had remained in power, it's a safe bet that Stevens would still be alive. McCain advocated for the rebels and took a position then that put Americans in greater danger.

The Senator from Arizona also sits on some powerful Senate Committees. He is the ranking member on the Senate Armed Services Committee and serves on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee. McCain was wrong about Libya then and he's wrong about Syria now; he continues to be among the loudest voices in support of rebels there as well.

It's important to note as well, that McCain has been one of Huma Abedin's most powerful and vocal supporters. Abedin, Deputy Chief of Staff to Hillary Clinton (someone else who has tough questions to answer over the Benghazi attack), has familial ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, which overtly supported the Libyan rebels.

McCain is on the wrong side of practically every debate over the Middle East and although he's right about calling Obama out on the lack of security in Libya, he doesn't have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to backing policies that got us here.

Until McCain has a mea culpa about his position on Libya in 2011, the Arab Spring generally, and individuals like Huma Abedin in particular, he'll be throwing stones from a glass house.

Are John McCain's chickens coming home to roost?

When it comes to the Arab Spring, Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has been on the wrong side far more often than not. Last year, he referred to the Libyan rebels as his 'heroes'. He continues to support arming the rebels in Syria despite mounting evidence that they make up a contingent that is far worse than Bashar al-Assad.

Earlier this summer, he not only defended Hillary Clinton's Deputy Chief of Staff Huma Abedin when legitimate questions were raised about her background but he smeared the woman who raised those questions - Michele Bachmann - from the Senate floor. Now, he's pointing to State Department culpability in the attack / mishandling of the aftermath in Benghazi.

Last month, during an interview with Sean Hannity, McCain attempted to have an 'I told you so' moment with the Fox News host when he all but stuck his tongue out at Hannity while saying he was right about Libya. He pointed to what he said was the election of a moderate government there.

Now, according to Bill Gertz, al-Qaeda appears to be plotting an overthrow of that government.

Pakistan-based al Qaeda is secretly setting up sleeper cells and a clandestine network of jihadists to destabilize and take over Libya while hiding under a new cover name to prevent exposure and attacks, according to an internal Pentagon report obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

“Al Qaeda has established a core network in Libya, but it remains clandestine and refrains from using the al Qaeda name,” according to the report produced jointly by the Library of Congress and the Combating Terrorism Technical Support Office’s Irregular Warfare Support Program, a unit under the assistant defense secretary for special operations.

The report concludes that al Qaeda poses “a significant threat to the state-building process in Libya.”

The 54-page unclassified report describes al Qaeda—which President Barack Obama recently declared to be in decline—as “seeking to create an al Qaeda clandestine network in Libya that could be activated in the future to destabilize the government and/or to offer logistical support to al Qaeda’s activities in North Africa and the Sahel”—the Sahara desert region stretching across northern Africa.

CBS Finally reports on Christian Persecution in Egypt

As Lebanon opened its country to Islam, Christians were persecuted. When Hamas was elected to power in Gaza, Christians were persecuted. When Saddam was overthrown in Iraq, Christians suffered. As the Syrian rebels al-Qaeda and Hamas fights against Bashar al-Assad, they are persecuting Christians. When Mubarak was overthrown in Egypt, the Christians began to suffer. Many of us knew this would happen. Yet, the liberal media that championed the 'Arab Spring' was disinterested. It was journalistic malpractice that should have torpedoed their credibility with the masses.

Instead, they embarrassingly continue to hold a large media megaphone and now, well over a year after Egypt fell, CBS actually discovers Christian persecution in Egypt.

Sunday's CBS Evening News refreshingly spotlighted the continuing persecution of the Coptic Christians in Egypt, an ongoing story that the Big Three networks have largely ignored for months. Correspondent Elizabeth Palmer zeroed in on the uncertain future for the religious minority as the country gears for a rare election: "[Egypt's] Christians are deeply worried....Two of the frontrunners in the race with a realistic chance of winning are deeply devout Islamists."

The last time CBS reported on the anti-Christian violence in Egypt was a news brief on the October 9, 2011 edition of Evening News, according to a Nexis search. Since January 2011, ABC, NBC, and CBS's morning and evening newscasts have only mentioned the issue six times.

Anchor Jeff Glor introduced Palmer's report by noting that "Egyptians vote this week in the first free presidential election in six decades. There are thirteen candidates running from all over the political spectrum. But Elizabeth Palmer reports tonight Egypt's largest minority fears their situation may go from bad to worse."

The correspondent began with footage of a Christian worship service in Cairo, stating that "the Coptic Christian ritual is ancient and familiar. But outside the door, Egypt now feels unwelcoming and unsafe. Last May, a Coptic church was set on fire in Cairo. Locals blamed Muslims in the neighborhood. And then, in October, Christians protesting the destruction of another church were mowed down by military vehicles."

Suddenly, the mainstream media - the supposed beacon of news and information - has discovered something it should have discovered a year and a half ago.



CBS didn't even wake up after one of its own female reporters - Lara Logan - suffered an extremely violent sexual assault at the hands of a mob of celebratory Islamists who shouted, "Jew! Jew! Jew!"

What the liberal western media isn't doing is criminal.

What's up with that Kony 2012 Video?

Back in October of 2011, the Obama administration made news by announcing that it would be sending one hundred military advisors to Uganda to deal with one of the most evil men in the world - Joseph Kony.  It was a puzzling decision when we were already engaged in military actions in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya at the time.

Here is an excerpt from the White House letter on the subject, written to Speaker John Boehner:

In furtherance of the Congress's stated policy, I have authorized a small number of combat equipped U.S. forces to deploy to central Africa to provide assistance to regional forces that are working toward the removal of Joseph Kony from the battlefield. I believe that deploying these U.S. Armed Forces furthers U.S. national security interests and foreign policy and will be a significant contribution toward counter LRA efforts in central Africa.

More than anything else, the move and subsequent announcement seemed bizarre.

Less than six months later, a YouTube video pops up called Kony 2012 by a charity that goes by the moniker, "Invisible Children." After just two days, the video garnered more than 25 million views. Some sources are asking questions about the group's funding.

At first blush, the video comes off as extremely noble and calls for a mass, international movement to remove Kony by December of 2012 while leveraging the new social media in order to do it. As you watch though, other questions arise. Who or what is really behind the success of this video? What made this one take off so quickly? Who are the producers of the video? Is it wise for them to be touting the International Criminal Court as the final authority? Is there a political agenda that involves arresting Kony at around the same time as the elections? Is there any connection between the Obama administration's sending troops there and the timing of this video's release? Was there any communication or coordination between those troops and the producers of this film? Part of the video features what appears to be members of "Invisible Children" in the Uganda war zone. Were U.S. troops nearby?

This is clearly a concerted effort to use social media in much the same way as it was used in the Arab Spring uprisings and the OWS protests. In this particular case, it's being used against a very evil man but what if it works? Is it a model that could be used against political enemies instead of just evil men? Also, what's up with the circular peace sign used by these protesters? It's a left wing symbol, which indicates a left wing movement, potentially. Video of young people raising clenched fists can be seen as well. Again, that too is a symbol of left wing unity and solidarity.

Another interesting aspect to Kony is that he is not a Muslim. With the increase in persecution of Christians all over the Middle East taking place at the hands of the Muslim Brotherhood, why this monumental effort to focus on Joseph Kony? Again, I cannot stress enough that this guy is one evil dude but what is going on here? Is this international community organizing? Is this a civilian international security force?

If this movement is an attempt solely to remove Kony, it'd be a very good thing. If it's an attempt to use his arrest as a political springboard, it quickly becomes something else entirely. If mobilizing millions of people all over the world results in granting the ICC more power, the long-term consequences could be quite dangerous.

Is this an attempt to open Pandora's box by doing so in the name of a good cause?



Coincidentally, at about the same time the Obama administration's letter to Boehner was issued, a film about the heroic story of Sam Childers - starring Gerard Butler - was released. Childers, a man with an ugly past, made saving the children of Sudan and Uganda his life's work. The courage of Childers is beyond immeasurable. Known as the Machine Gun Preacher, he converted to Christianity and built orphanages for Kony's victims. The work he's done in the region is the stuff of legend. I wrote about it at the time here and here.

Huma Abedin still successfully using Muruna?

The UK Daily Mail has posted multiple photos of former congressman Anthony Weiner (Jewish) and his wife Huma Abedin (Muslim) walking the streets of New York with their new baby boy. However, at the end of the article, almost as an afterthought, the Daily Mail has a photo of a then-pregnant Huma informing her boss, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, of Muammar Gadhafi's death in October. There is no reason whatsoever that Huma should have remained on as Clinton's Deputy Chief of Staff and closest aide after what had been uncovered just a few months earlier.

Back in June of 2011, Walid Shoebat and I penned an article that exposed the extremely strong familial ties Anthony Weiner's wife Huma Abedin has to the Muslim Brotherhood. Her mother, Saleha Abedin, is an official member of the group and a leader with the Muslim Sisterhood. It was the bigger story amidst the twitter sexting scandal involving Weiner but didn't get nearly the attention. In fact, Huma garnered more sympathy than shame; she was the scorned, pregnant wife of Weiner.

In the wake of the twitter scandal, it was reported by the New York Post that Weiner had to satisfy Huma, her mother and Hillary that he was cured.

Forget his wife -- Anthony Weiner has an even bigger problem on his hands: Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

The horndog ex-House member from Queens is telling friends that while he's finally started therapy for his sex addiction, the really hard part of his "recovery" will be getting his wife's boss to believe he's through with his naughty habits.

"My problem is that I have three women I have to convince that I'm cured: Huma, her mother -- and Hillary," Weiner, 46, told a friend recently.

Uh, if Huma's mother is a member of the Muslim Sisterhood, she should have disowned her daughter for marrying a Jew in the first place. At the time, the only logical explanation for the marriage - according to Islam - was a conversion to Islam by Weiner. Islam strictly forbids Muslim females marrying non-Muslim males.

Enter the Muslim Brotherhood tactic known as Muruna. It was introduced by none other than Muslim Brotherhood leader, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, who has also collaborated with Huma's mother, Saleha. Muruna is a tactic of deception sanctioned by Qaradawi that allows Muslims to violate the most sacred prohibitions of their religion if they have a higher calling.

Known as the "Doctrine of Balance," this is the aspect of Muruna that would permit Huma to marry a non-Muslim male. It allows her to commit the egregious evil for a greater good.

If she wasn't practicing Muruna, if she truly committed herself to Anthony Weiner with no strings attached, there is no way that her Muslim Sisterhood mother would still have a relationship with her.

The bigger question is....

After all that's been uncovered, why is Huma Abedin still in the employ of Hillary Clinton?

Renege: Muslim Brotherhood taking the mask off in Egypt and Tunisia

There is a narrative being pushed by western leaders right now that the Muslim Brotherhood is "moderate" in comparison to Iran. That narrative has come from none other than the Muslim Brotherhood itself. Naturally, once that premise is accepted, the Brotherhood is perceived as the lesser of two evils and is supported by the West in places like Syria, for example.

This is exactly how the Brotherhood wants it and the West is playing right into their hands. The latest indicator can be found in both Tunisia and Egypt, where Islamists there are already reneging on their pledge to moderate.

PARIS - After months of reassuring secularist critics, Islamist politicians in Tunisia and Egypt have begun to lay down markers about how Muslim their states should be -- and first signs show they want more religion than previously admitted.

Islamist parties swept the first free elections in both countries in recent months after campaigns that stressed their readiness to work with the secularists they struggled with in the Arab Spring revolts against decades-long dictatorships.

With political deadlines looming, the Tunisian coalition led by the reformist Islamist Ennahda party and the head of Egypt's influential Muslim Brotherhood both made statements this week revealing a stronger emphasis on Islam in government.

Popular List, an Ennahda coalition member tasked with writing Tunisia's new constitution, announced on Monday its draft called Islam "the principle source of legislation" -- a phrase denoting laws based on the sharia moral and legal code.

On Tuesday, Egyptian Brotherhood leader Mohamed Badie said his group wanted a president with "an Islamic background." That term is vague, but not as vague as the conciliatory "consensus candidate" talk heard from most parties until now.

Secularists in both countries warned voters against trusting the Islamists and these subtle changes could have come straight from a secularist playbook on how Islamists would gradually insert more religion into the political and legal systems.

The Brotherhood has been very effective at duping the west for several reasons, not least among them being the power its organizations have been able to acquire in western halls of power (CAIR and ISNA among them). Another reason is the tactic known as Muruna; it affords Islamists the ability to violate the very tenets of Islam in order to deceive in the name of a greater goal. This technique also goes a long way toward portraying themselves as moderate.

Syrian Rebels flying Al-Qaeda Flags, McCain wrong again

Senator John McCain's record as a prognosticator is quite sad. In 2008, he told a town hall that they did "not have to be scared" (of an Obama presidency). In April of 2011, he went to Libya and told Al-Jazeera that the rebels there were his "heroes." Once his heroes had seen the overthrow of Gadhafi, they flew the al-Qaeda flag from atop the Benghazi Courthouse.

Apparently quite thick-headed, McCain is not getting the message even as the Syrian rebels are flying the al-Qaeda flag as well.

Here is Senator McCain on Hannity's February 13th television show, doing his best "Baghdad Bob" impersonation, actually singing the praises of the Tunisian government and defending the Muslim Brotherhood's rise in Egypt.

There is simply no way McCain doesn't understand what's going on so these words he's uttering have to be the result of a political calculation. There comes a point, however, when such rhetoric, regardless of how well-intentioned it is, becomes harmful. We passed that point a long time ago, Senator.

Newly Revealed Islamic Tactic: Muruna

The Muslim Brotherhood's Yusuf al-Qaradawi has been elevated by the Obama administration of late. Recently, he was named as a key mediator between the United States and the Taliban. Not only is that a big mistake but thanks to the translation of Qaradawi's own words, it's been learned that a strategy known as muruna is being used against the West. Think of it as taqiyya on steroids.

In my latest collaborative effort with Walid Shoebat, we explore this tactic. It is definitely one that westerners need to know.

Muruna: Violating Sharia to Fool the West
The Sunni doctrine of muruna takes taqiyya a step further.

Westerners who understand Islamic deception often refer to “taqiyya” as being the tactic of lying in order to guard the faith. Sunni Muslim apologists counter that taqiyya is a Shiite doctrine, while accusing Shiites of being rabblerousers who sanction “mut’a” (pleasure marriage), which is nothing more than prostitution.

Shiites can easily find equivalents to taqiyya and mut’a in the Sunni Muslim world. They are called “misyar” and “muruna.”

While Westerners cringe at the thought of religiously sanctioned prostitution like mut’a, they are less familiar with the Sunni-sanctioned misyar, which literally means “the traveler’s marriage.” It was established to assist with the sexual needs of travelers — a Sunni Muslim male may enter into a contract with a woman in order to gain sexual gratification without the financial obligation necessary to maintain a wife.

As a consequence, the sin of adultery never takes place because the sex contract is an official marriage license. An abundance of misyar “middlemen” can seal these interim deals. For internet savvy travelers, there are countless websites like Mesiaronline [1] that allow men to arrange these marriages globally, including in the United States, from the comfort of their hotel rooms.

Misyar was first made legal in Saudi Arabia and Egypt. Sunnis who approve of misyar may condemn the Shiite practice of mut’a, which does not require two witnesses as misyar does. Shiites argue that Allah and the Qur’an are the only two witnesses they need.

Arabic translations reveal that Sunnis and Shiites have much more in common than just sanctioned prostitution. Few Westerners are familiar with the Sunni Muslim Brotherhood revival of the doctrine of muruna, which literally means “stealth” or “flexibility.” It is far worse than taqiyya, since it sanctions all prohibitions that block Muslim interests, even blasphemous ones.

Muruna allows Muslims to sow division and confusion in the Western world. In a recent sermon, this doctrine was exercised by General Guide of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Muhammad Badei, who laid out [2] his vision for the post-revolutionary era while revealing aspects of a strategy followers should use to deal with secularism in the meantime:

Do not fight the ways of the world because they are overpowering but try to overcome and use them, change their course, and pit some of them against others.

When Badei says to “overcome and use” the “ways of the world”, he is instructing Muslims worldwide on how to overcome Western secularism. It was precisely this purpose for which muruna was prescribed by Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the main Muslim Brotherhood intellect who initiated it in December 1989 while in the United States during the annual conference of the Association of Muslim Youth Forums. He was with Mohammed Hamadi, a leading rebel in Libya who participated heavily in the “Arab Spring.” Hamadi is also the head of the Muslim Brotherhood in Mauritania.

This doctrine and long-term plan should be of great interest to Westerners. In what the forum termed “The Priorities of The Islamic Movement in The Next Three Decades” (from 1990 to 2020), they planned to attain what they described as “the goals of the Islamic Movement.” The plan confirms Badei’s utopian hope for the “establishment of an Islamic state, governed according to Qur’anic law — first in Egypt and eventually in the entire world.” Accordingly, muruna calls for “organized, popular work to return to Islam in order to lead society, all of society … to bring back the caliphate … to announce Jihad either by arms, by pen, or by heart.”

In Islam, there is a term known as "taqiyya." According to the Religion of Peace website, it means that it is ok for a practicing Muslim to lie if it advances the cause of Islam:

Iran and Turkey have a Syria-ous Problem

The 'Arab Spring' that has been ongoing for a year now is as much (if not more) about the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood (Ikhwan) as it is about removing dictators. The Ikhwan seeks a return of the Ottoman Empire, which was centered in what is today Turkey. To varying degrees, the Muslim Brotherhood has gained control of the countries on the map that have red arrows pointing to them. This benefits Turkey tremendously.

Over the last several years, Iran and Turkey have had an alliance of convenience but the situation in Syria is putting great strain on that alliance. Syria, which borders Iraq to its east, Lebanon to its west, and Turkey to its north has essentially been an arm of Iran under the Assad regime. Assad has allowed his country to act as a funnel for weapons and Hezbollah fighters into Lebanon. Prior to the U.S. invasion of Iraq, those efforts were more difficult.

With the removal of Saddam Hussein and the subsequent withdrawal of American troops from Iraq more than eight years later, Iran has essentially gained control of Iraq. At least one high-ranking cabinet member inside the Iraqi government is also a high-ranking Quds official with loyalties to the Ayatollah; his name is Hadi al-Ameri. That someone like him would hold the position of Transportation Minister in Nouri al-Maliki's government is a serious red flag that signals Iran has already annexed Iraq.

In this behind-the-scenes struggle between Turkey and Iran, the latter has control of Iraq, which also shares a border with Turkey to its north. This makes Syria all that more important for both countries. If Assad is removed from power, the Brotherhood will most assuredly attempt to wrest control for the larger Ottoman movement. Despite its public stance, Turkey is licking its chops over the possibility of acquiring Syria. It would be a huge victory for the Ikhwan and a huge defeat for Iran, which will not give this up easily, however.

As long as Assad is in power, Iran's guy is running the country. When and if he ultimately steps down or is removed, Iran will do all it can to ensure Syria does not come under the control of the Brotherhood.

At that point, Israel could take a back seat in the minds of Iran and Turkey. Syria is that important. As both nations fight over Syria, the mask that has been hiding much of the geopolitics in the region could slip significantly. Turkey's desire for stealth could be more difficult to maintain. In either case, Iran has far more to lose relative to Syria than does Turkey but the latter country has far more to gain if it gets control.

In this game of chicken, Syria is like a piece of meat Iran desperately wants to keep on its plate. Conversely, the Muslim Brotherhood desperately wants to gobble it up for its master - Turkey.

Video: Arab Spring's Grossly Inaccurate Recreation of Tiananmen Square, AP Virtually Ignores

Though this video is very disturbing, it's not really graphic, which should make it a little easier to watch, which I encourage everyone to do. Remember, the Obama administration supported the removal of Hosni Mubarak in Egypt; it touted the Arab spring as a peaceful revolution that everyone should rally behind. Despite the early warning signs that the Muslim Brotherhood was going to fill the vacuum, coupled with examples like the assault on CBS reporter Lara Logan, the media continued the meme which said the Arab spring was a good thing. Contrast the video you are about to see with what happened in Tiananmen Square in 1989. The photo is legendary. A man standing in front of several tanks, dares them to run him over.

Contrast that with what happened in Egypt recently. Coptic Christians have been the real losers in the Arab Spring that saw the fall of Hosni Mubarak. They are suffering persecution the likes of which westerners cannot imagine. After staging a protest in front of a television station, an Egyptian military vehicle began mowing down protesters in the street. Meanwhile, the western media is practically silent. Folks, Barack Obama has blood on his hands here. He outwardly stood with this revolution and a coherent, forceful US Policy could have prevented this.



Seemingly never unable to spin any affront to the liberal cause, the Associated Press tends to word things a bit differently. The Headline SHOULD be: 'Egyptian Military Vehicles Mow Down Helpless Christians.' Instead, it's 'More Clashes Erupt in Egypt.' In fact, you have to get to the fifth paragraph before the subject even comes up. Prior to that, the Christians are portrayed as a violent, out-of-control bunch who seemed to bring the violence on themselves. Here are the first four paragraphs:

Several hundred Christians pelted police with rocks outside a Cairo hospital Monday in fresh clashes the day after 24 people died in riots that grew out of a Christian protest against a church attack. Sunday's sectarian violence was the worst in Egypt since the uprising that ousted Hosni Mubarak in February.

Egyptian Prime Minister Essam Sharaf warned in a televised address that the riots were another setback on the country's already fraught transition to civilian rule after three decades of Mubarak's authoritarian government.

"These events have taken us back several steps," Sharaf said. He blamed foreign meddling for the troubles, claiming it was part of a "dirty conspiracy." Similar explanations for the troubles in Egypt are often heard from the military rulers who took power from Mubarak, perhaps at attempt to deflect accusations that they are bungling the management of the country.

"Instead of moving forward to build a modern state on democratic principles, we are back to seeking stability and searching for hidden hands — domestic and foreign — that meddle with the country's security and safety," Sharaf said.

It isn't until the next paragraph that the AP even discusses what should be the headline of the story. Also, take note that the forces behind the slaughter of the Copts are branded as being 'ultra conservative' by the AP:

The clashes Sunday night raged over a large section of downtown Cairo and drew in Christians, Muslims and security forces. They began when about 1,000 Christian protesters tried to stage a sit-in outside the state television building along the Nile in downtown Cairo. The protesters said they were attacked by "thugs" with sticks and the violence then spiraled out of control after a speeding military vehicle jumped up onto a sidewalk and rammed into some of the Christians.

Most of the 24 people killed were Coptic Christians, though officials said at least three soldiers were among the dead. Nearly 300 people were injured. Egypt's official news agency said dozens have been arrested.

The latest clashes Monday broke out outside the Coptic hospital where many of the Christian victims were taken the night before. The screams of grieving women rang out from inside the hospital and some of the hundreds of men gathered outside held wooden crosses. Empty coffins were lined up outside the hospital.

There were no word on casualties from Monday's clashes.

Christians, who make up about 10 percent of Egypt's 85 million people, blame the ruling military council for being too lenient on those behind a spate of anti-Christian attacks since Mubarak's ouster. The chaotic power transition has left a security vacuum, and the Coptic Christian minority is particularly worried about a show of force by ultraconservative Islamists, known as Salafis.

Even for the left, this is an unprecedented level of bias.

Shocker: Hillary Clinton wants to un-freeze Gadhafi's Assets and Give to the Rebels

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton wants to un-freeze $1.5 Billion of Gadhafi's assets and distribute them amongst the rebels who have overthrown the regime. Despite there being strong evidence that these rebels are backed by the Muslim Brotherhood, Hillary apparently wants to throw money at them before we even know who or what their motives are. Since the US was instrumental in 'liberating' them, shouldn't we reimburse our military? just a thought. Anyway, making this even more egregious is a report that Hillary doesn't even want to make transfer of these funds contingent on the Lockerbie bomber's fate.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton is joining top officials from dozens of countries to hear Libya's rebels spell out what they need in financial aid and other assistance to stabilize the Arab country.

Clinton, who left Washington on Wednesday night to attend the conference scheduled for Thursday in Paris, hopes to announce that $1.5 billion in Gadhafi regime assets frozen in the United States have been distributed on behalf of the rebels, U.S. officials said.

That money, about half of the liquid portion of the more than $30 billion in frozen Libyan assets, was freed up last week when the U.N. Security Council eased sanctions against Libya. European nations are now seeking similar U.N. authorization to release billions more in frozen assets that they hold.

"We have supported the unfreezing of this small, limited amount of money - not so small, $1.5 billion - to begin to meet their immediate humanitarian and governance needs," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Wednesday.

Although some U.S. lawmakers have asked Clinton to link the release of the assets to the case of convicted Lockerbie bomber Abdel Baset al-Megrahi, Nuland said the administration will continue to press Libyan rebels to review the case but will not hold up the transfer of funds because of it.

As Libya and other Arab countries fall victim to the Muslim Brotherhood-backed Arab Spring, we will see our leaders completely unmasked. This administration has demonstrated an across-the-board allegiance to the Brotherhood and we need to figure out why.

More Arab Spring Fruit in Egypt - Israeli Ambassador Threatened with Death unless he Leaves

Remember, the mainstream media in the United States was instrumental in the success of the ouster of Hosni Mubarak. As such, the violent sexual assault of CBS reporter Lara Logan is on their hands; the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood is on their plate; and the subsequent threats to Israel falls in their lap too. It is beyond inexplicable that our media - to include much of the conservative media - does not seem to grasp the Muslim Brotherhood threat to the world.

Islamic protesters in front of the Israeli embassy in Cairo are carrying signs of swastikas with the words, 'the gas chambers are ready.' Now we have the Brotherhood threatening to kill Israeli's ambassador to Egypt unless he leaves the country.

The Muslim Brotherhood has threatend to kill Israel's ambassador to Cairo if he does not leave the country. The radical Muslim group has been leading daily protests at the Israeli embassy in Cairo, demanding the expulsion of the envoy and a break in relations between Egypt and Israel.

Hundreds of demonstrators surrounded the embassy Monday as armored military and police officers prevented them from repeating Saturday night’s incident when rioters broke down the gate. One firebomb smashed through a front window of the embassy’s office.

One anti-Zionist, now referred to as ”Spiderman,” became an instant hero throughout Egypt by scaling the multi-story wall and replacing the Israeli flag with one of Egypt. The Israeli flag was burned.

Meanwhile, the mainstream media is absent on this story. I'm sorry to say that the media in the United States has become as anti-Semitic as Europe did before WWII.

Video: Al Gore calls for 'Arab Spring' in America

While appearing on the newer version of Keith Olbermann's Countdown, Al Gore bemoaned the fact that the left in America hasn't yet risen up like the left in Arab countries. In this exchange, Gore calls for an 'American Spring,' a 'Tahrir Square' in America and then qualifies it by saying 'the non-violent parts.' As if that wasn't absurd enough, he then says we need a 'grass roots' effort that mirrors what's happening in the Middle East but NOT of the 'Tea Party kind.' In typical leftwing fashion, Gore insists that the Tea Party is not grass roots and it's funded with seed money from the Koch brothers. It's classic projection.

At one point, Gore talks about how America is coming on hard times and that it has been building for a while. Yeah, I think you being Vice President for eight years has something to do with it, Al.

Tunisia Bans Relations with Israel

I get it. The leftists here and all over the world are actively siding with Islamist forces that want to overthrow governments so that the world can be the beneficiary of the wonderful 'Arab Spring.' Unwittingly or complicit, they're actively pushing the rise of an Islamic Caliphate. What gets me is the likes of John McCain and Tim Pawlenty, who are completely oblivious to what's going on here. Northern Africa is falling to the most anti-Semitic global movement since Hitler and official U.S. policy is to continue facilitating it.

The latest example is in Tunisia. From ANSAmed:

TUNISIA, JULY 1 - Today Tunisia's commission of political reform announced that it adopted (by majority) a ''republican pact'' that will be the basis of the future new Constitution, and in particular it states the rejection of any normalisation with Israel.

While announcing the pact the president of the commission, Yadh Ben Achour, did not offer any details, but the Arab speaking Tunisian press published its content, which defines Tunisia as a free and democratic country, whose official language is Arab and whose religion is Islam.

The pact, that will serve as the basis of the future Constitution, categorically rejects ''any form of normalisation with the Zionist State'', and supports the Palestinian cause.(ANSAmed).

So much for an Amendment that guarantees freedom of religion, I guess.
