Why is it that the voices of reason in power are few and have minimal power? I have long maintained that Czech president Vaclav Klaus, a man-made climate change denier, is one of the most courageous men out there. I often couple him with Roberto Micheletti, interim president of Honduras who took on the world (and Obama) and won and Sheriff Joe Arpaio, who refuses to be intimidated by the DHS.

When it comes to the EU, Klaus is on an island but he is right.

VIDEO: CLIMATEGATE II GETS BIGGER

It appears that this Hadley Center for Climate Change angle is beginning to get extended play, beyond the initial reports of cherry-picking data. That cherry-picking is looking more and more suspicious. As a result, East Anglia is likely to get even more attention in the coming days in conjunction with Hadley.

At issue is Hadley's data collection process. Hadley is relied upon heavily for the proponents of Anthropogenic Global Warming (AGW). However, Russia's Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) is exposing Hadley in the same way that the release of the emails exposed East Anglia's CRU.

NEW AMERICAN reports:

The Russian news agency, Ria Novosti, reports the Moscow-based Institute of Economic Analysis (IEA) revealed researchers with the Hadley Center in England "had probably tampered with Russian climate data." The Hadley Center is based at the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) of the University of East Anglia where thousands of e-mails were pirated from a server and published on the Internet in November. The e-mails implicate climate scientists in conspiracy to withhold and manipulate data to forward their environmentalist agenda.

The IEA says CRU researchers used data from only 25 percent of Russian meteorological stations, and those stations happened to be the ones with the warmest temperature readings. Temperatures reported by the remaining 75 percent showed no substantial warming during the last several decades. The press release reported, "The IEA believes that Russian meteorological-station data did not substantiate the anthropogenic (man-made) global warming theory." The Russian institute claimed CRU scientists tended to choose records from stations providing sporadic readings rather than those supplying uninterrupted observations. Their preference also tended toward stations in metropolitan areas where the urban heat effect influences warmer temperatures.

In both cases - East Anglia's CRU and Hadley - there is a Russian angle. The emails from UEA's CRU were released via a Russian server and Hadley's processes are being exposed by a Russian institute.

It is ironic indeed that Obama, a socialist mentored as a child by a man, Frank Marshall Davis, who had great affinity for the Soviet Union, is finding Russia to be involved as a significant player in this scandal. Russian Television continues to follow this story.

CHRIS DODD IN SERIOUS TROUBLE IN CONNECTICUT

It appears that not only is Democrat Chris Dodd in danger of losing his seat but there are some democrats willing to help usher him out of it before the election, asking him to step aside. Polls are apparently showing Dodd behind his Republican challenger by double digits. So what reason is being given for former Connecticut Democratic Party Chair Ed Marcus wanting Dodd to step aside?

In politics, perception is everything and that is the reason here according to this CNN political tracker:

"Chris has had Obama in for him, Biden in for him, a lot of TV ads and they haven't moved the numbers," former Connecticut Democratic Party Chair Ed Marcus told local television station WFSB. "Rightfully or wrongfully the perception within the voting public in Connecticut is just negative toward Chris."

A recent Quinnipiac poll suggests Dodd faces an 11-point deficit against Rob Simmons, one of several Republicans vying for the party's nomination to face Dodd. The poll also suggests Dodd would loose to Republicans Linda McMahohn and Tom Foley, while he would tie Sam Caligiuri and Peter Schiff.

Marcus has two things that lend credibility to what he is saying. One, he's a political animal and two, he's a local political animal in Connecticut.

This is good news for those who can't stand corrupt scumbags like Dodd.

MY OPEN LETTER TO MICHAEL MANN

Michael Mann of climategate fame has issued a rebuttal to Sarah Palin's calling him out on the scandal. Upon reading his column, I decided to send him a letter. I wasn't planning to post it but since Doug Ross did such a good job of making it look better than what I sent, I decided to go ahead and do it.

Mr. Mann,

It takes a lot of gall to try to defend AGW [anthropogenic global warming] after it's been exposed as a complete and total fraud thanks to Climategate. The "Hide the Decline" email is but an ice chip in a glacier of examples -- so focusing on that exclusively is rather inconsequential.

There are other issues like the hockey stick chart (yours, I believe) that have been completely and utterly debunked; the Hadley Center's cherry-picking of data from Russia's meteorological stations; the stonewalling of freedom-of-information requests; the omission of accurate Medieval Warming Period (MWP) temperatures that were significantly warmer than the current period; the suppression and intimidation of opposing viewpoints; ... but I grow tired, should I continue? The whole thing is beyond shameful. If you possessed but a modicum of honesty, you would simply admit your crimes.

Oh -- are you familiar with Archimedes? When ice melts, water levels actually fall. It has to do with displacement and the density of ice versus water. Claiming that sea levels will rise because glaciers melt is either ignorant or fraudulent. Can you pass that along to your buddy-slash-current Science Czar John "Mass Sterilization" Holdren? He's actually been wrong about, well, pretty much everything over the years. Maybe you could help him out.

Mr. Mann, the best thing you could do would be to come clean and seek forgiveness. Such an act would be both humbling and liberating. You should try it. It's an option that's always available. And it's never too late to free yourself.

ANGRY OBAMA BOMBS IN COPENHAGEN

There is something funny about watching Barack Obama get angry about inaction. That notwithstanding, Obama flew into Copenhagen just in time to give a terrible speech and watch China and India walk out. Even ABC news is having to concede the failure.

POLITICO reported:

COPENHAGEN — A visibly angry Barack Obama threw down the gauntlet at China and other developing nations Friday, declaring that the time has come "not to talk but to act" on climate change.

Emerging from a multinational meeting boycotted by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Obama warned delegates that U.S. offers of funding for poor nations would remain on the table “if and only if” developing nations, including China, agreed to international monitoring of their greenhouse gas emissions.

China and India apparently liked the speech so much, they WALKED OUT:

India and China have taken a united stand and walked out of the climate summit as Copenhagen talks fail.

Tensions prevailed at the climate talks at Copenhagen today, as Indian prime minister Manmohan Singh and China premier Wen Jiabao walked out of the summit along with their respective delegations, as talks failed.

We all know what happens when Obama gets angry. He takes it out on conservatives.

SPEAKING OF THE BLACK PANTHER INVESTIGATION...

To this day, the Justice Department has yet to explain why the case against the Black Panthers, who were caught on tape intimidating voters on election day, was dropped despite winning a default judgment. It appears to be so egregious that Holder may not be able to just let it fade away, all of the other crises notwithstanding.

The WASHINGTON TIMES is reporting that Rep. Frank R. Wolf of Virginia is using a "resolution of inquiry" to put pressure on Eric Holder's DOJ:

A senior House Republican on Thursday introduced a "resolution of inquiry" that would require the House Judiciary Committee to seek answers on why the Justice Department dismissed a civil complaint against members of the New Black Panther Party who disrupted a Philadelphia polling place in last year's elections.

Rep. Frank R. Wolf of Virginia also said he had language inserted in the Justice Department's annual spending bill requiring that its Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR) provide to the House Appropriations Committee the results of OPR's investigation surrounding the dismissal of the case.

Mr. Wolf, a senior member of the Appropriations Committee's commerce, justice and science subcommittee, and Rep. Lamar Smith of Texas, ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, requested an investigation into the case earlier this year.

Under House rules, committees must take action on resolutions of inquiry within 14 legislative days. Mr. Wolfs resolution directs Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. to provide Congress with "all information" relating to the decision to dismiss the case. The committee must hold a straight yea-or-nay vote on the resolution.

Whether the Black Panther case, the Fort Hood shooting investigation, Walpin-gate, or the countless other inconveniences for this administration, my money is going on Holder ignoring this request.

VIDEO: PA SENATOR CASEY TARGETED OVER ABORTION

This one comes in from Barrackaid #2. Pennsylvania senator Bob Casey (D) is beginning to feel constituent heat over his support of Obamacare relative to the abortion debate. As Ben Nelson appears to be holding his ground on no taxpayer funding in the senate bill, Casey is being pressured to do the same.

FORT HOOD: INVESTIGATION BEING STONEWALLED

The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee, led by Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and ranking member Susan Collins (R-ME) appears to be getting stonewalled on the investigation of the Fort Hood shootings. Collins and Lieberman met with members in the Dept of Defense and apparently walked out scratching their heads.

According to CNSNews:

“Today’s hearing was very helpful, but I would be remiss if I did not express my disappointment in the administration’s slow walking of this case,” Collins said after Tuesday’s briefing by Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence James R. Clapper, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Manpower and Reserve Affairs Karl F. Schneider, and Maj. Gen. Carla G. Hawley-Bowland, commanding general of the Northern Regional Medical Command and Walter Reed Army Medical Center, where Hasan worked before being transferred to Fort Hood.

“It’s clear that the Department of Defense has been instructed to fully cooperate with the administration’s reviews and investigations that appear not to be under restrictions of any kind from the Department of Justice,” Collins said. “It seems to me that the administration needs to accord that same kind of cooperation to Congress as we carry out our constitutional duty to exercise oversight in this area."

Who heads the Justice Department again? Oh yeah, that would be Eric Holder. The same guy who is either responsible for or involved in the following:

VIDEO: ANOTHER CLIMATEGATE ANGLE TO THE SCANDAL?

As if the notion of man-made climate change could become anymore of a farce, this new angle to the Climategate scandal just did it. We already know about the emails from the CRU at East Anglia University, a research center relied upon heavily by the Allegory crowd. Now Russia is making things difficult for the Hadley Climate Research Unit Temperature (HadCRUT), also located in Great Britain and like East Anglia's CRU, it is a source for the findings of the man-made global warming whack jobs.

Russia is accusing Hadley of ignoring the findings of its more remote meteorological stations. According to Russia's Institute of Economic Analysis, only 25% of the data from Russia's met stations were used and that 40% of Russia's land mass not included. Now we learn that information not used did in fact show that there was no evidence of man-made global warming. CATO has more on that story.

This video from RUSSIA TODAY provides more detail. Watch all the way to the end as it appears Russian president Medvedev will have signed whatever document is produced in Copenhagen. The logical question for me is why would he do that in light of these revelations about a British research unit (Hadley) manipulating weather data from his own country?
