REPUBLICANS NOW HAVE SUPER MAJORITY IN TEXAS STATE LEGISLATURE

After the November 2nd elections, the Texas state legislature came up one election shy of obtaining a Super majority in the lower chamber. More than one month later, that reality has changed as a Democrat has switched parties, Giving the Republicans that Super Majority. It will allow them to legislate without the assistance of Democrats. We are seeing the Texas state house mirror what had been a reality in the U.S. Senate - a filibuster proof majority.

Via Texas Tribune:
State Rep. Allan Ritter, D-Nederland, is telling associates he will switch to the Republican Party next week. Ritter was not immediately available for comment.

That would give the GOP a 100-member supermajority in the Legislature's lower chamber — a number that allows them to pass constitutional amendments and other matters without seeking support from the Democrats.

A Ritter switch would also give Speaker Joe Straus another vote in the House Republican Caucus, which could turn out to be the forum where the next speaker is chosen. Straus foes within the GOP say they want a leader who can get the post without depending, as Straus did two years ago, on support from the minority party. Straus says he has the majority of the Republicans on his side; a vote inside the caucus would prove it.
Of course, the downside to this is that Ritter supports Speaker Joe Straus, a RINO Republican with a 100% approval rating from NARAL (National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws), a Pro abortion group.

Conservative Republicans want to replace Straus but it is looking more and more likely that he will stay.

RETIRED THREE STAR GENERAL THROWS DOWN GAUNTLET WITH ISLAM

Retired Delta Force General William G. Boykin once again cast any hint of political correctness aside before speaking to a group of people in Owego, New York. Boykin has developed a reputation for being critical of Islam, often saying it's not a religion but a political system with a religious component. I saw him speak in Killeen, TX on November 21st and he also made the point that the freedom to practice Islam / implement Shariah law is NOT a First Amendment issue; it's an Article VI issue.

Via Press Connects:
"I believe today we face as great a threat as we faced in 1776," Boykin said. "The situation in America is much far more serious than most Americans realize, and there's no longer any excuse for not knowing."

That threat, he said, is Islam.

"You need to remember one thing from tonight's presentation," Boykin told the audience. "Their objective is to replace our Constitution with Sharia Law."

Boykin spent 36 years in the Army, retiring as a lieutenant general in 2007. He was the U.S. undersecretary of defense for intelligence during part of the George W. Bush administration.

Boykin also was an original member of the Army's elite special operations unit, Delta Force. He either commanded or served on Delta Force missions in Iran, Grenada, Columbia and Somalia.

He was the Army's mission commander during the Battle of Mogadishu in 1993, depicted in the movie "Black Hawk Down."
By the way, Article VI of the U.S. Constitution states:
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding.
The argument that Islam necessarily considers shariah law to be the law of the land would seem to point to an irreconcilable conflict between Islam and the U.S. Constitution.

Boykin went on to say:
"You need to understand that this is a war of ideology -- it's not a war of Islam versus Christianity," Boykin said. "This is a war of Islam against everybody that is not submitted to Allah. Now because most of the world is Christian, it falls out that most of the people who are under persecution, or the targets of Islam, are Christians."
Boykin's solution is to preach the Gospel in Muslim lands. Why not? Don't they do it here?
