Just what the socialists needed - more bad press. Texas congresswoman and member of the Democratic Socialists of America caucus Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D) has been busted violating the rules of the Congressional Black Caucus (yeah, I was shocked they had rules too). Johnson allegedly took money out of a CBC fund set up for its members causes and funneled it to relatives and friends to be used for college scholarships.

Via the Dallas Morning News:
Longtime Dallas congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson has awarded thousands of dollars in college scholarships to four relatives and a top aide's two children since 2005, using foundation funds set aside for black lawmakers' causes.

The recipients were ineligible under anti-nepotism rules of the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation, which provided the money. And all of the awards violated a foundation requirement that scholarship winners live or study in a caucus member's district.

Johnson, a Democrat, denied any favoritism when asked about the scholarships last week. Two days later, she acknowledged in a statement released by her office that she had violated the rules but said she had done so "unknowingly" and would work with the foundation to "rectify the financial situation."
If members of the CBC are allowed to plead ignorance of their own rules when busted, is there any incentive for following the rules? Are we to believe that this woman didn't have attorneys nearby that could have informed her that this was a violation? Puh-leeeeze.

Oh, one other thing. In addition to being a Democrat, Eddie Bernice Johnson is also one of the 30 CBC members - and one of 70 members in congress - that are confirmed socialists, registered with the Democratic Socialists of America caucus, which I blogged about HERE.

Big h/t to Gateway Pundit

If this doesn't get Governors like Rick Perry of Texas to publicly and forcefully stand with Arizona, I'm not sure anything will. Frankly, the state being sued by the Department of Justice for actually legally passing legislation that mirrors federal law should have been more than enough. This is over-the-top egregious. Barack Obama has now placed the state of Arizona in front of the U.N. Human Rights Council, which consists of nations that have set the world standard for human rights - Cuba, China, and Libya.

Via Gateway Pundit, HERE is the Obama administration's report - courtesy of Hillary's State Department - to the UN Council on Human Rights. Skip ahead to line 95 and 96, which say:
95. A recent Arizona law, S.B. 1070, has generated significant attention and debate at home and around the world. The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined.

96. President Obama remains firmly committed to fixing our broken immigration system, because he recognizes that our ability to innovate, our ties to the world, and our economic prosperity depend on our capacity to welcome and assimilate immigrants. The Administration will continue its efforts to work with the U.S. Congress and affected communities toward this end.
The implication should be clear. Our federal government is choosing not to enforce federal law and is not only penalizing a state for following it but is chastising that state in front of the United Nations for human rights violations. The President of the United States - and anyone who goes along with this, including Hillary Clinton - are siding with the UN over one of our country's own states.

Governor Brewer is not taking this laying down; she has responded in the form of a letter to Hillary Clinton.

Be sure to read it all.

Paging Rick Perry.........Paging Rick Perry.

Wanna hint? No contest. First up, video from after Glenn Beck's 8/28 rally at the Lincoln Memorial. Take note of the condition of the mall. No one seen picking up trash, perhaps because the people who attended exercised personal responsibility for their own while respecting the venue? Contrast that with the video - at bottom - of the aftermath of the 2009 Obama inauguration. To be fair, the first video was shot near the WWII Memorial, which is not where most of the attendees were but there's still an obvious difference.

Not that it would matter all that much but it would kind of be the proverbial cherry on top if the clean-up crew at the inauguration were compensated with taxpayer dollars.
