Video: Ron Paul Exposes his Nutty Underbelly

Republican presidential nominee Ron Paul has got to protect the Truther vote - those who believe 9/11 was an 'Inside job.' He also needs to come across as mainstream. The result is an epic failure in his interview with Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation. Paul seems to settle on the view that flawed US Government policy led to 9/11. In essence, he excuses Islamic countries from any and all culpability when, in fact, they reject western civilization entirely because we're not like them. Paul is intellectually vacant in this area and Schieffer does a decent job of getting Paul to show it.

If you engage Ron Paul in a discussion about fiscal policy and economics, you will likely be quite impressed. If you engage him in a discussion about the intentions of Islamic countries in the Middle East, you'll scratch your head and wonder why he's not a Democrat.

After all, he DID say that he would be comfortable appointing Dennis Kucinich to a Cabinet level post.

There is growing concern that Paul might attempt a 3rd party / Independent run if he doesn't get the Republican nomination. If he does that, it will be the Ross Perot effect on steroids. Obama will be reelected. The interesting thing is that if  Paul registered as a Democrat, he would help get a Republican elected.

Anyway, here is Paul's exchange with Schieffer, via MediaIte:

Governor Scott Walker Recall: Cigs for Sigs

Consider this a harbinger for 2012. We've already seen Ohio voters reject Governor John Kasich's attempt to reign in collective bargaining. Now, Occupy Milwaukee protesters have been caught offering underaged teens packs of cigarettes in exchange for their signatures on recall petitions for Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker. No, really. Via Media Trackers:
On the evening of November 17th a number of Occupy protesters in Milwaukee gathered on a bridge over I-43 as part of a nationwide effort to draw attention to the Occupy movement’s agenda. The protesters succeeded in shutting down the bridge for several hours during rush hour causing traffic snarls and generating media attention. In a memorable moment, Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn refused to mass arrest the protesters saying, “they can sit and freeze their butts off.” A mass arrest was what protesters wanted.
In the midst of the larger story, another side drama seems to have been unfolding. The bridge protest was held a mere three days into the official period to circulate petitions to force a recall of Governor Scott Walker. Lately, Walker recall supporters have moved to make the Occupy movement an extension of the recall Walker effort and on the bridge recall petitions were circulated among protesters.
An anonymous individual attending the protest captured on camera some potentially disturbing tactics used by the Occupy/Recall Walker petition circulators. The video (posted below) and pictures show a young female signing a recall petition and taking a cigarette offered to her by a person standing near the petition. The individual who recorded the video and took the pictures could not be reached for comment on Saturday evening.
In order for the incident to be a bribe, the cigarette would have had to be offered in consideration for the signature on the recall petition. Wisconsin law does not prohibit anyone from offering something of consideration in exchange for a signature on a recall petition. However, it is illegal to bribe someone in regards to voting. In 2000 the infamous “smokes for votes” scandal caught a Democratic operative handing out cigarettes to Milwaukee’s homeless in exchange for their vote in the presidential election, and earlier this year Wisconsin Jobs Now! came under scrutiny for their tactic of offering minority voters a barbecue chicken dinner if they voted early in a local state Senate recall election.

Issa: The Longer Holder Stays, the Worse for Obama

As Fast and Furious continues to gain slow and steady traction, Attorney General Eric Holder is becoming a liability for the Barack Obama administration. The number of US Congressmen who are calling for his resignation stands at 52 (Michele Bachmann the latest). House Oversight Committee chairman Darrell Issa had some interesting things to say about the fate of the Obama administration if Holder doesn't go. Via The Daily Caller:
House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa told The Daily Caller that if Attorney General Eric Holder isn’t “doomed” because of his handling of Operation Fast and Furious, the entire Obama administration is.
“If the [Obama] administration continues to have full confidence in a failed administration by Eric Holder and Lanny Breuer, then ultimately the administration is going to be doomed,” Issa told TheDC during an interview in San Diego on Saturday. “Eric Holder seems to have the full confidence of the president, and I can’t understand why.”
Don't look for this to die down any time soon, either. On December 8th, Holder will be in front of Issa's committee to answer questions about Fast and Furious.
