Video: Robert Spencer Smacks Down Islamist on Hannity

What do you get when you pair up a radical Islamist and an expert on the Qur'an who happens to be a Christian? The answer is a smack down of the Islamist with the truth. Check out this exchange between Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch and Michael Ghouse of the America Together Foundation. Watch the whole thing if you can. Fast forward to the 4:00 mark if you can't. The debate starts out with the two guests debating the merits of the Egyptian uprising.

Ghouse maintains it's a good thing; Spencer and Hannity cite a 2010 Pew Research poll that shows the overwhelming majority of Egyptians want Sharia law incorporated into any new government. At that point, Ghouse shifts gears entirely and attacks Spencer for spreading lies and hate. Spencer then lands a haymaker by citing the Qur'an. In particular, he references Chapter 3, verse 28 which commands Muslims to smile in the faces of unbelievers and curse them behind their backs.

Sit back and watch.

Turkey Deepening Ties with Iran?

The president of Turkey's increasingly Islamist government, Abdullah Gul, visited Iran and did not criticize Iran or Ahmadinejad over human rights abuses relative to the uprisings in Iran. Yet, Gul was quick to defend the Egyptian protesters and by extension, the Muslim Brotherhood, which has sought an alliance with Turkey for decades. The words and actions of the Obama administration seem to put the United States on the same side with Turkey here.

Via CNS News:
On a visit to Iran that will heighten concerns in the U.S. about his nation’s policy shift, Turkish President Abdullah Gul is strengthening political and economic ties with Iran, winning praise from his Iranian counterpart for defending Iran’s rights “in all international forums.”

Gul’s three-day visit comes as Western governments condemn the Iranian government’s continuing suppression of opposition supporters and the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog confirms ongoing uranium enrichment in defiance of Security Council resolutions.

In both of those areas, the Islamist-leaning Justice and Development Party (AKP) government of Gul and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has refused to side against Tehran at the U.N.
Often lost in all of this is why Turkey would align with Iran. The Muslim Brotherhood is Sunni and Iran is Shiite. The answer involves Saudi Arabia - in addition to Israel. The stronger the arab world gets and the more Iran and Turkey align, the more concerned Saudi Arabia becomes. They do NOT like what's going on at all.

If Obama is beholden to the royal family in any way, he is throwing them under the bus whether they realize it or not.

Senator Sheriff Joe Arpaio?

Making the news lately is that Arizona Senator John Kyl (R) will not be running for re-election in 2012. Some have speculated that Gabrielle Giffords would be a shoe-in after she makes what could be a full and miraculous recovery. There is another scenario that could play out if Sheriff Joe Arpaio follows through on this trial balloon. America's favorite sheriff has indeed floated his name as a possible contender for Kyl's seat. Gotta love the idea of every prisoner in the state of Arizona wearing pink.

Via The Hill:
Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio said Monday he is open to the possibility of running for the seat of retiring Sen. Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.) in 2012.

Arpaio, the conservative sheriff famous for his hard-line anti-immigration stances, made the remarks in light of a poll released today by Summit Consulting Group Inc., which is fundraising for Arpaio's reelection campaign for sheriff. The company's Chad Willems is Arpaio's campaign manager.

Arpaio said the deciding factor is neither the money, which he said he could raise, nor his ability to do the job. Rather, he said, it's whether he would be willing to leave his job as sheriff.

Arpaio has served as sheriff for five terms and is currently running for a sixth. But, he said, that doesn't mean he won't run for the Senate.

"The issue is whether I want to leave this office and go to Washington and try to make a difference there, which I would do if I run and win," Arpaio said.
Imagine McCain and Arpaio as Arizona's two Senators. Wouldn't you love to count the number of face palms Arpaio delivers every time McCain showcases his RINOism?
