Video: Obama in Afghanistan; asks for troops to applaud him

Well, at least Barack Obama is putting his transparent side on full display. First, he spikes the football on the one year anniversary of Osama Bin Laden's death; the Navy Seals - both retired and active - vehemently object. Despite objections from Arianna Huffington and other left wing bloggers over the politicizing of bin Laden's death in an election year, Obama doubles down by actually flying to Kabul on what amounts to being a campaign stop so he can pile on by doing an Ochocinco-esque end zone dance.

As if that weren't enough, while speaking to the troops, he asks them to cheer his arrival.

No, I'm not kidding.

Has there ever been a more emotionally immature president in the history of the United States?

Romney's Openly Gay Foreign Policy Advisor Resigns

This could be a sign that Mitt Romney won't be able to shake that etch-a-sketch completely clean. Last week, after all but sealing up the Republican nomination, it was learned that one of Mitt Romney's foreign policy advisers - Richard Grenell - was openly gay. The news definitely raised the dander of social conservatives already hypersensitive about Romney's very liberal streak.

Now, less than a week later, Grenell has resigned.

Via Washington Post:
Richard Grenell, the openly gay spokesman recently hired to sharpen the foreign policy message of Mitt Romney’s presidential campaign, has resigned in the wake of a full-court press by anti-gay conservatives.

In a statement obtained by Right Turn, Grenell says:

I have decided to resign from the Romney campaign as the Foreign Policy and National Security Spokesman. While I welcomed the challenge to confront President Obama’s foreign policy failures and weak leadership on the world stage, my ability to speak clearly and forcefully on the issues has been greatly diminished by the hyper-partisan discussion of personal issues that sometimes comes from a presidential campaign. I want to thank Governor Romney for his belief in me and my abilities and his clear message to me that being openly gay was a non-issue for him and his team.
Perhaps in an attempt to play both sides of the fence, team Romney released a statement of regret that Grenell decided to leave:
“We are disappointed that Ric decided to resign from the campaign for his own personal reasons. We wanted him to stay because he had superior qualifications for the position he was hired to fill.”
Well, of course, by expressing sorrow for the departure, the Romney campaign doesn't alienate the GOProud crowd while also taking the gay rights pinata down from the tree so social conservatives can't beat on it anymore (in this case).

For what it's worth, Van Jones and Al Armendariz both resigned (wink, wink) without being prompted by the White House.

Video: Jon Lovitz explains his anti-Obama Rant

SNL's Jon Lovitz went on an anti-Obama, profanity-laden rant last week. At the rood of his anger was the idea that the "rich need to pay their fair share." It was obvious that Lovitz is against the 1% vs. the 99% meme. One week later, Lovitz appeared on CNN's Headline News to either defend or walk back his comments.

To his credit, Lovitz stood by his comment but he also referred to himself as a "Democrat" who voted for Obama. I can cut him some slack on that one because he's gone much further than most celebrities. Referring to yourself as a Republican when you're a Hollywood guy is the kiss of death. For all we know, he gets it but is just picking his battles. The battle he picks here is a good one and he's right on the money.

It is refreshing to see someone like Lovitz enunciate a conservative position so well, even if he's a self-proclaimed Democrat. Also, make no mistake. When celebrities come out and talk like this, it scares the left. That's why there's so much pressure on these celebrities to toe the liberal line. It's probably why so many of them come off as being so completely vacant intellectually.

Anyway, Lovitz gets it.
