Sotomayor Tied To Group With Connections to ACORN?

Geesh,

"An Acorn doesn't fall far from the tree."
- Barack Obama

Anyone remember how Obama tried to distance himself from his ties to ACORN despite all of the evidence and history to the contrary, including this picture (h/t to Doug Ross)?

Now the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor continues to rot like an old acorn fallen not far from the tree. The racial group, Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, which had Sotomayor on its Board may also have ties to ACORN.

The AP article focuses more on the fact that 350 pages relative to Sotomayor are being turned over to the Senate panel in charge of the nomination hearing than it does on any possible relationship between PRLDEF and ACORN, which could be far more newsworthy. That said, it does mention the claim.

A GOP Judiciary aide said the material details PRLDEF's opposition to failed conservative high court nominee Robert Bork, and its ties to the community-activist group ACORN.

If ever there were a Supreme Court nominee that should be looked at closely based on racist grounds, it is Sotomayor.

Now we learn that a racial group on whose Board she sat (PRLDEF) may have ties to ACORN, a Community Organizing outfit that is feeling so much heat that it has decided to change its name to Community Organizations International.

hmmmm

Curious that the AP article also seems to report that PRLDEF has changed its name as well - to "Latino Justice PRLDEF".

Formerly known as the Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, the group took up a number of causes during that time, including backing bilingual education and abortion rights and opposing the death penalty, which it equated with racism.

I'm sure it's all coincidence and there's nothing to it.

How far from the tree does an ACORN fall again?
