Barack Obama does, obviously. As such, does anyone expect him to admit giving the literary agent a falsified bio (or authorizing it) that showed his birthplace being outside the United States? No way. Does that not leave the literary agent on the hook for having to explain away an incorrect bio? That's what has just happened. However, she's not admitting to publishing intentionally falsified information. Instead, it's being called a 'fact checking error.'
Naturally.
Here is the statement released by Miriam Goderich via Political Wire (h/t Breitbart):
"You're undoubtedly aware of the brouhaha stirred up by Breitbart about the erroneous statement in a client list Acton & Dystel published in 1991 (for circulation within the publishing industry only) that Barack Obama was born in Kenya. This was nothing more than a fact checking error by me -- an agency assistant at the time. There was never any information given to us by Obama in any of his correspondence or other communications suggesting in any way that he was born in Kenya and not Hawaii. I hope you can communicate to your readers that this was a simple mistake and nothing more."Brouhaha? If (that's IF) Goderich were an unrepentant liar, that's exactly the kind of response you would expect. When an unrepentant liar is caught, the accuser is almost always diminished or smeared by the person caught.
Now, Breitbart is reporting that not only did Obama's bio remain unchanged relative to a Kenyan birth all the way to 2007 but that it was updated at least four times between 1991-2007 without ever changing the place of his birth.
Obama presented a Birth Certificate that says he was born in Hawaii. His literary agent published a bio (updated four times) for sixteen years that said he was born in Kenya. As one can expect, Obama is not the one who is going to take the fall, Goderich is.
And she's in the process of doing so... Sort of.
