AUDIO: INTERVIEW THAT GOT RICK SANCHEZ FIRED AT CNN

On September 30th, CNN's Rick Sanchez appeared on the Sirius Satellite radio program of Pete Dominick, who actually used to work for Comedy Central's Jon Stewart of the Daily Show. Sanchez was obviously sensitive to the treatment he has received from Stewart lately, so much so that he believes Stewart's attacks on him are racially motivated. His conclusion, based on that premise, was that Jon Stewart is a 'bigot.' Dominick stuck up for Stewart and actually got Sanchez to retract the 'bigot' comment; Sanchez changed his word choice to 'prejudicial.'

Dominick may have saved Sanchez at that point, had Sanchez dropped it. He didn't and what likely got him fired one day later was his scoffing at the notion that Jews are not minorities and that 'everybody who runs CNN is a lot like Stewart.'

The two parts of this clip happen around the 1:00 and 9:00 marks. HERE is more on Pete Dominick's site.

VIDEO: CNN'S SANCHEZ CALLS OBAMA 'COTTON PICKING PRESIDENT'

This one really is funny, especially after watching it more than once. CNN's Rick Sanchez asks correspondent Jessica Yellin about the whole, 'Is Obama a Muslim' controversy. As she winds down her response, Sanchez is apoplectic at the notion that Obama is unable to convince 20% of Americans that he's not a Muslim. He expresses his frustration by reaching into his quiver of verbal gems and refers to Obama as 'the cotton picking president'.

Someone needs to ask Ricky if he knows where that term comes from. Sanchez actually delivers another freudian slip immediately after the cotton reference. Again, frustrated with Obama's inability to get past this controversy, Sanchez says:
"If the President of the United States doesn't have enough of a bully pulpit to convince people of a lie....."
Unlike the "cotton picking" remark, Sanchez caught himself and re-phrased that one.

Rick wraps it up by saying:
"What kind of planet are we on? What the hell is going on here?"
If Yellin was inclined to take Rick's apoplexy to the next level, she should have asked him if he knows of any Muslims who pick cotton.

AUDIO: GLENN BECK PAWNS CNN'S RICK SANCHEZ

One of those show excerpts you'll find yourself laughing at all the way through. When CNN's Rick Sanchez read aloud words from a teleprompter that were actually telling him what to do - not what to say - it was funny to be sure. Beck made it infinitely funnier on his radio show, pointing out other aspects of Sanchez's faux-pas.

After he's done poking fun at Sanchez over what is now known as the latter's "Ron Burgundy moment", Beck goes after Sanchez for how he covered the volcano eruption in Iceland. To be fair to Sanchez, I did see his explanation of that segment being rooted in a joke that was taking place off-air. That said, the funniest part of this clip has to do with Sanchez's contention that "Hawaii" is a "long word" compared to "Iceland". Beck nails him there, regardless of whether Sanchez was joking about not understanding how a volcano could erupt in a cold place like Iceland.

VIDEO: SHERIFF JOE ARPAIO V. RICK SANCHEZ

Sheriff Joe holds his own with CNN's Rick Sanchez in this clip. At issue is that the Feds (DHS) is trying to intimidate Arpaio into backing off enforcing immigration laws. Arpaio will have none of it. We need a lot more people like Sheriff Joe.

CNN ANCHOR RICK SANCHEZ BUM RUSHED BY LIMBAUGH

I can add the perspective of someone who was living in south Florida at the time of the incident Rush spoke of on 10/14 in response to CNN anchor Rick Sanchez continuing to report, as factual, comments attributed to Limbaugh that still have not been substantiated. Oddly enough, the incident is tied to an NFL game. It was a very memorable game actually, played between the Miami Dolphins and the Philadelphia Eagles. It was Dan Marino v. Randall Cunningham.

Rush went nuclear on Sanchez, relaying the facts of an incident Sanchez was involved in on December 10th, 1990. After the Miami Dolphins defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Overtime by a score of 23-20, Rick Sanchez who was then a news anchor for WSVN, channel 7 in Miami left the game in his Volvo. Sanchez had been drinking and was later found to be above the legal limit.

While driving, he struck a pedestrian who went into a coma for two months and woke up partially paralyzed. Not only that but Sanchez left the scene of the accident and returned after two hours. The MIAMI NEWS TIMES published an article about Jeffrey Smuzinick on August 7th, 1991.
Minutes after midnight on the morning of December 10, 1990, an intoxicated Smuzinick darted out in front of a Volvo on a residential street near Joe Robbie Stadium. The driver of the car, WSVN-TV Channel 7 anchorman Rick Sanchez, became the subject of a subsequent January 16 New Times story that described the odd circumstances of the accident. Sanchez, whom a Metro-Dade police officer said "smelled strongly of alcohol," first stopped his car but then later left the scene. A blood test to determine Sanchez's sobriety was not administered until an hour and fifteen minutes after the collision. Though Sanchez says he tried to aid Smuzinick at the scene of the accident and flag down motorists, eyewitnesses claim the anchorman ignored the injured man and loudly told police and bystanders that blood tests were pointless, and would hurt his public image.
Smuzinick would die in 1995. Sounds like Smuzinick's injuries largely contributed to his death. Rick Sanchez is a wealthy man who wasn't doing too bad back then either. I wonder to what extent he helped Smuzinick financially.

Again, interesting that the incident Rush chooses to bring up to fire back at Sanchez involved an NFL game. As a Dolphin fan, it was one of those that has stuck in my memory. Sunday night game on ESPN with Dan Marino leading the Dolphins back from a 10 point 4th quarter deficit to tie the game in regulation. The Dolphins went on to win the game in OVERTIME.

Also worth noting that Limbaugh likely would never have attacked Sanchez over this matter had he not felt that Sanchez slandered him with unsubstantiated quotes attributed to Rush.

VIDEO: JACKSON LEE VICTIM OF DOCTORED VIDEO

There is absurd, there is patently absurd, and then there is the Sheila Jackson Lee standard. After the YouTube video of her talking on a cell phone as a woman tried to ask her a question made its rounds, Lee appeared on CNN with Rick Sanchez.

At one point, Lee floated the notion that the video of her interrupting a questioner by talking on her cell phone may have been "doctored".

Tip to Sheila. When your argument causes apolplexy on the face of Rick Sanchez, you may want to retreat. Here's the video of Lee placing Sanchez firmly beside himself.

Now here's the entire one minute video of the actual incident.
