New Jersey Sheriff hires Anti-Islam man to train Deputies

Expect this to get national attention fairly quickly. The federal government has proven to be either completely inept or complicit when it comes to the threat of the Muslim Brotherhood to our homeland. The state governments seem to be only mildly better and only seem to run into the federal government buzz saw when they address the problems (anti-Sharia law in Oklahoma for example).

Enter Rutherford Country Sheriff Robert Arnold in New Jersey. He has hired, retired FBI agent John Guandolo, one of the most outspoken critics of Islam, Sharia Law, and the Muslim Brotherhood to train his deputies.

Via the Tennessean:
A former FBI agent who claims Nashville’s mosques have no legal right to exist is training the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office about Islam and the threats of terrorism.

John Guandolo, vice president of the Arlington, Va.-based Strategic Engagement Group, is leading training being held at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro. He spoke at an anti-Shariah law event at Cornerstone Church in Madison on Nov. 11, calling local mosques front organizations for the Muslim Brotherhood with no right to exist.

“They do not have a First Amendment right to do anything,” Guandolo said then.

Rutherford Sheriff Robert Arnold said his department simply wants to learn about Muslim culture.

“There are not many classes out there for anything when it comes to Muslims … but this training isn’t just about that, it has many other components to it,” he said. “My stance is and my office’s stance is, we are not here to pick sides. I am here to protect the people of this county, and I am never going to waiver from that.”
When it comes to county sheriffs standing up to do the job neither the federal nor state governments are doing, Arnold is not alone.

Check out the County Sheriff Project. Though it doesn't focus on Islam, the CSP consists of sheriffs that appear to be drawing a line in the sand when it comes to its constituents.

Here is video of Guandolo you dont' want to miss:

Video: Arizona Sheriff, American Patriot Paul Babeu wants Mexican Drug Cartels labeled 'Terrorists'

Hard to argue with Paul Babeu on this one but a Democrat Judge in El Paso, TX does anyway. To understand this argument, one has to clearly define what a 'terrorist' is. Sheriff Babeu sets a pretty simple standard; if you cut off the head of a police officer in Mexico and then lay the body in front of the police station, that's terrorism. Conversely, go figure, Judge Veronica Escobar (D) would rather not go to such lengths because, well, 'Americans are fueling (the drug) war.'

Via CNS News:
Washington (CNSNews.com) – The federal government should designate Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations under U.S. law, according to the Republican sheriff of an Arizona county near the U.S.-Mexico border.

But a Democratic judge in Texas disagrees, saying such a designation would achieve little. Instead, said the judge, attention should be focused on illegal drug consumption by Americans.

Asked by CNSNews.com whether he would support designating Mexican drug cartels as foreign terrorist organizations (FTOs) – as some lawmakers are suggesting as a way to target their finances – Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County, Ariz. replied, “Absolutely.”

“They are terrorists,” said Babeu, a Republican elected official. “Literally 35,000 people have been brutally murdered in Mexico. The president just articulated we went and bombed Libya because we didn’t want possibly 1,000 civilians just killed – it would have been blood on our hands.”

“Wait a minute,” he continued. “That’s half way around the world. Look south –35,000 people killed and they’re not just regular people [but] judges, police chiefs, you know, anybody who stands up in their way.”
Here's the video of both Babeu and Escobar. Based on Escobar's logic, I wonder if she'd be in the camp of blaming the Qur'an burning pastor for Afghanistanis murdering people who had nothing to do with it.

Tea Party to Hold a 'Dump Dupnik' Rally in Effort to Recall Whack Job Sheriff

Not sure how much real impact this is going to have beyond demonstrating how effective Tea Party muscle can be, if some reports that Clarence Dupnik has indicated he wouldn't run for election again anyway, are true. Then again, in addition to Sarah Palin being the victim of blood libel and baseless accusations relative to the shootings, so has the Tea Party so I don't fault them in this effort to recall the Pima County Sheriff. Besides the blood libel angle, Dupnik seems to have tampered with the investigation by popping off about Loughner's motivations.

Via the Washington Times:
Conservatives have bristled at Sheriff Dupnik's insinuation that Republicans and the tea party movement were somehow responsible for the rampage. The Pima County Tea Party Patriots plan to "indict" the sheriff at their rally for "politicizing the shootings, blaming free speech for the crime without evidence, failing to protect Giffords, failing to recuse himself from the investigation, and embarrassing the community in front of the nation," according to the Arizona Daily Star.
As for the recall effort, it will be a test of Tea Party resolve as over 90,000 signatures in 120 days, which is just under 800 signatures a day.
The group needs to gather 90,809 valid signatures within 120 days to qualify the recall for the ballot. The recall would require a special election, which could be held at the earliest in March 2012, said Pima County Elections Director Brad Nelson.

That's a lot of signatures in a county with 485,629 registered voters. In order to oust Sheriff Dupnik, recall organizers would also have to make sure another candidate runs against him, and so far the sheriff is batting 1.000 against Republican challengers.
As time goes by, the only person Dupnik's words seemed to benefit were Obama, who called to thank him.

Arizona Sheriff Dupnik Silenced on Loughner Shooting

There are many angles to this one. As Sheriff Dupnik's mouth kept running about how talk radio and rhetoric was responsible for Jared Loughner's shooting spree, multiple people pointed to how the more he spoke, the more he would damage the prosecution's case. It appears that speculation has become a reality based on a news report from Tucson's ABC affiliate, KGUN-9. Indications are that there is some friction between the Sheriff's Office and the County Attorney's Office.

Via KGUN:
TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - The Pima County Sheriff's Department has suddenly turned off the flow of information in the January 8th mass shootings in Tucson. Shortly after noon Tuesday Sheriff's PIO Jason Ogan released this terse, one-line statement:

"Until further notice, due to a controversy between the Sheriff's Department and the County Attorney's office, no further information reference the January 8, 2011 shooting will be released."
Interestingly, now that marching orders seem to be taking shape with respect to who is being prosecuted by whom, the County Attorney will have skin in the game, which likely plays a big factor here.
The federal government is prosecuting accused gunman Jared Lee Loughner only on those charges related to his actions against victims who were federal employees. It will be up to County Attorney Barbara LaWall to decide when, and whether, to prosecute Loughner on charges related to the other victims.

The word "controversy" contained in the statement would seem to imply some sort of disagreement or discord between the Sheriff's Department and LaWall's office. But the statement did not elaborate about the nature of the controversy. When contacted by KGUN9 News, LaWall's office declined to comment.
So Loughner will be charged by the Feds relative to the deaths of Judge John Roll and a Giffords aide as well as the attempted murder of Giffords herself. The County Attorney will be responsible for prosecuting Loughner relative to his other victims. Before these prosecutorial lines had been established, Dupnik was popping off and getting phone calls from the President thanking him for his work. If the County Attorney's office is now demanding that Dupnik's Department zip their lips, why didn't the Feds do the same thing in the days after the shooting?

ARIZONA SHERIFF DUPNIK REFUSING TO RELEASE LOUGHNER DATA

Sheriff Clarence Dupnik is racking up quite the history of saying and doing things that run counter to what he should legally say and do. Last April, he publicly called S.B. 1070 a 'racist' law and said he would instruct his deputies not to enforce it. Then, ever since Saturday, he has been potentially tampering with an investigation by ascribing blame for the Safeway massacre to people without evidence. Now, his department is refusing to release data it has on Jared Loughner.

This latest stunt by Dupnik could be a violation of the law.

Via AZ Central:
Sheriff's Department and community-college officials in Pima County are refusing to release a wide range of public documents about the man charged in Saturday's shooting rampage that left six dead and more than a dozen wounded.

The Pima County Sheriff's Department and Pima Community College have declined to release documents that could shed light on run-ins they had with 22-year-old Jared Loughner in the months prior to the shooting.

The Arizona Public Records Law requires that records be "open to inspection by any person at all times" unless officials can prove releasing the information would violate rights of privacy or confidentiality or otherwise harm the best interests of the state.

The Arizona Republic requested that records, including incident reports on campus and calls for dispatch of deputies to Loughner's home, be released under the law. Such reports are often released as a matter of course in criminal cases.
Dupnik could be a criminal.

More here.

ARIZONA SHERIFF CLARENCE DUPNIK ACTING STUPIDLY

As we watched an Arizona Sheriff in Clarence Dupnik unbelievably and egregiously lay blame for the shooting that took place in his county this weekend at the feet of talk radio, reality was suspended. In the hours after the Safeway massacre, Dupnik blamed people who weren't even tangentially involved with the shooter, without evidence. In short, he 'acted stupidly.' If Barack Obama was ever justified in publicly stating that 'police acted stupidly,' it is in the case of Sheriff Dupnik.

That's the subject of my article at American Thinker:
Pima County Sheriff Clarence Dupnik ascribed blame in a murder case to radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh - thereby labeling him an accomplice - while conceding he has no proof. At a press conference in the summer of 2009, President Barack Obama admitted to not having all the facts about an incident involving his friend Henry Louis Gates and the Cambridge Police. He then proceeded to declare that the Police "acted stupidly" anyway.

Gates was belligerent with his arresting officer Sgt. James Crowley, called him a "racist" and then demanded an apology. Crowley refused to issue one. Sheriff Dupnik last April publicly stated he would order his deputies not to enforce Arizona S.B. 1070 because it is a "racist" law. After the Safeway massacre, he proclaimed his own state a "Mecca for racism and bigotry" without having any facts.

The incident involving Gates and Crowley became a public relations nightmare for the Obama administration as the days went by. The remedy decided upon was to conceal defeat in the form of a perceived truce between Crowley and Gates at the infamous White House Beer Summit. In reality, it was an attempt to stop the bleeding (metaphor intended). Crowley was being vindicated by the minute while Obama and Gates looked increasingly foolish and angry.

If Obama was able to assert that the Cambridge Police "acted stupidly" without having all of the facts, why won't he assert that the head of the Pima County Police is acting stupidly when the facts support such a conclusion? As a lawman, it's Dupnik's job to avoid drawing conclusions relative to the motives of a suspected killer, let alone doing so publicly or while the investigation is still ongoing.

Therefore, he is not only acting stupidly but he may even be tampering with an investigation.

If ever Obama was justified in singling out a police officer for acting stupidly, it's in the case of Sheriff Dupnik. Yet, he remains silent on the issue; he even called Dupnik to thank him for his efforts after the Sheriff made the unsubstantiated charges. What should we infer from the fact that Dupnik's extremely irresponsible words seem to be falling on deaf presidential ears?

Is Obama giving tacit approval to Dupnik's words by ignoring them? After all, the Sheriff appears to be masterfully implementing one of the rules of Obama's mentor Saul Alinsky; in Limbaugh, Dupnik is picking his target, freezing it, polarizing it, and certainly personalizing it. Does tacit approval also come with a hidden smile and a word of encouragement during a phone call?

The president told us last year that he is not an ideologue. The facts don't support that in several examples but especially so when comparing the treatment received by Sgt. Crowley with the non-treatment received by Sheriff Dupnik.
