Chris Christie hugs Springsteen; goes home and cries

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was allegedly a finalist for being selected as Mitt Romney's running mate. It's becoming more apparent by the day that Christie was not the right choice. First, a hug and a stroll on the beach with Barack Obama. Next, he hugged Bruce Springsteen and proceeded to cry when he got home.

He's been to countless shows (more than 100, he says), has quoted lyrics in speeches and speaks openly about his love for The Boss. But Springsteen hasn't really acknowledged Christie - until now.

The Republican governor had a couple of interactions with Springsteen this past week in the wake of superstorm Sandy. Christie says he was so moved by their conversation that he cried when he got home; it was a high point in a long and tough week.

Chris Christie's Curious defense of Muslim Groups against NYPD

Last year, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie turned his bombastic persona (made famous when he attacked Union defenders) on those who questioned his appointment of a Muslim judge with questionable ties to Islamist groups.

This year, he has been an outspoken critic of the NYPD for its surveillance tactics used on Muslim groups, which included ones in New Jersey. Anyone with a modicum of awareness about the allegiances of the Muslim Students Association (MSA) knows that the NYPD was more than justified in its concerns.

Nonetheless, Christie's criticism of the NYPD raises some questions, especially in light of his defense of Sohail Mohammed last year.

Heated rhetoric between New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and New York officials over the NYPD's surveillance activities on Muslim subjects in New Jersey is reviving questions about Christie's views toward radical Islam.

Christie expressed anger about the surveillance following disclosures in a series of Associated Press reports. "I don't know if this NYPD action was born out of arrogance, or out of paranoia, or out of both," he said when asked about it on his monthly radio show, "but we're taking a real good, strong hard look at it from a policy perspective at the governor's office level."

That prompted U.S. Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., to tell a radio interviewer "I wish Chris Christie was more concerned about keeping people alive than he is about trying to score cheap political points."

Jonathan Tobin analyzes the situation, finding it is more than "two politicians who love to run their mouths and are intolerant of criticism." Rather, he sees Christie cynically choosing sides to cultivate Muslim political support. As the Investigative Project on Terrorism reported last year, Christie's appointment of Sohail Mohammed to be a state judge was a troubling sign. Mohammed had represented Mohammed Qatanani, an imam suspected of Hamas ties, in a deportation case.

"Christie not only sought to prevent the deportation but spoke at the imam's mosque which had previously been the site of a $2 million fundraiser for Hamas by the now banned Holy Land Foundation," Tobin writes.

Christie, then a U.S. Attorney, took sides against the Department of Homeland Security by allowing a top lieutenant to testify as a character witness for the imam. Christie later embraced Qatanani at a Ramadan breakfast.

That puts THIS in a new context, doesn't it?

Video: Chris Christie tells Warren Buffet to 'Shut up'

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has quite a few weaknesses (his support for Mitt Romney not the least among them) but those 'play it safe' politicians could sure take a lesson from him. Here he is with Piers Morgan, who wasn't too subtle in his attempt to argue for tax increases. Once Morgan brought up the name Warren Buffet as someone who has been calling for higher taxes, Christie tells him that Buffet either needs to write a tax check or 'shut up.'

New Jersey Sheriff hires Anti-Islam man to train Deputies

Expect this to get national attention fairly quickly. The federal government has proven to be either completely inept or complicit when it comes to the threat of the Muslim Brotherhood to our homeland. The state governments seem to be only mildly better and only seem to run into the federal government buzz saw when they address the problems (anti-Sharia law in Oklahoma for example).

Enter Rutherford Country Sheriff Robert Arnold in New Jersey. He has hired, retired FBI agent John Guandolo, one of the most outspoken critics of Islam, Sharia Law, and the Muslim Brotherhood to train his deputies.

A former FBI agent who claims Nashville’s mosques have no legal right to exist is training the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office about Islam and the threats of terrorism.

John Guandolo, vice president of the Arlington, Va.-based Strategic Engagement Group, is leading training being held at World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro. He spoke at an anti-Shariah law event at Cornerstone Church in Madison on Nov. 11, calling local mosques front organizations for the Muslim Brotherhood with no right to exist.

“They do not have a First Amendment right to do anything,” Guandolo said then.

Rutherford Sheriff Robert Arnold said his department simply wants to learn about Muslim culture.

“There are not many classes out there for anything when it comes to Muslims … but this training isn’t just about that, it has many other components to it,” he said. “My stance is and my office’s stance is, we are not here to pick sides. I am here to protect the people of this county, and I am never going to waiver from that.”

When it comes to county sheriffs standing up to do the job neither the federal nor state governments are doing, Arnold is not alone.

Chris Christie Believes in Man-Made Climate Change

New Jersey governor Chris Christie sent conservative hearts a flutter early on in his administration when he picked very public fights with teachers unions. Last month, he went off on anyone who questioned his appointment of an Islamist-sympathizer to a superior court judgeship in Passaic County. Now, Christie's conservative bonafides are dropping down yet another notch with his proclamation that man-made global warming (climate change) is a real threat. For the record, Islamists love it when westerners are distracted by the pseudo-threat of climate change; it takes our attention off of them.

Christie's come full circle on the issue. Last year, he told a town hall audience in Toms River he was skeptical climate change is the result of human activity. He backed off those comments at a conference of environmentalists in May and agreed to meet with climate scientists for a lesson in global warming.

Later that month, during a news conference announcing he would pull the state out of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative, a 10-state partnership intended to curb power plant emissions of carbon dioxide, Christie took another step.

"I can’t claim to fully understand all of this," he said. "Certainly not after just a few months of study. But when you have over 90 percent of the world’s scientists who have studied this stating that climate change is occurring and that humans play a contributing role it’s time to defer to the experts."

He added that climate science is complex and "we know enough to know that we are at least part of the problem."

There is something definitely wrong here. The behavior of our top public officials is becoming increasingly surreal.

Christie's biggest supporter, Ann Coulter, was conspicuously silent after Christie's defense of Sohail Mohammed. I wonder if this will snap her out of her Christie crush. I'm guessing not.

Video: Ann Coulter still Hearts Chris Christie, Silent on his Islamist Problem

When New Jersey governor, Chris Christie came out last month and slammed anyone who had problems with his appointing Islamist-connected judge, Sohail Mohammed to a Superior court judgeship in Passaic county, Ann Coulter, who has been among the most vocal Chris Christie supporters for some time now, was silent. The appointment of Mohammed is not something to dismiss; Christie's attack on those who have a problem with it only makes it worse. Four of the most prominent experts on the Muslim Brotherhood's attempt to infiltrate America expressed very strong opposition to Christie's actions. Among them are Andrew McCarthy, Daniel Pipes, Steve Emerson, Robert Spencer, Andrew Bostom, and others.

For the record, Sohail Mohammed is not just an attorney. He served as a board member for an Islamist organization, the American Muslim Union, which, as Commentary’s Jonathan S. Tobin and terrorism expert Steve Emerson have shown, has a checkered past of rationalizing jihadist attacks and supporting jihadists.

As general counsel, Mohammed bucked several high-profile terror support prosecutions. After authorities shut down the Holy Land Foundation near Dallas for alleged Hamas support in 2001, Mohammed told the Record of Bergen County, N.J., that the government was unjustly singling out Muslim organizations."People see this as another example of how heavy-handed the administration has been thus far," he said.

Daniel Pipes revealed that CAIR endorsed Christie's decision:

Christie won the hearty endorsement today of the Council on American-Islamic Relations, whose New Jersey branch issued a statement thanking him, applauding him, and urging a note of gratitude be sent him via the "Contact Us" page at the governor's website.

When CAIR is pleased with something, 99.99999% of the time, it's bad for America. On July 26th, Christie attacked anyone who had a problem with his appointment of Sohail Mohammed. Coulter was silent. Now, more than two weeks later, she appeared on Fox News and continued to express her wonton desire to see Christie as the next president. No one brings up the issue in this exchange but it's also interesting that Coulter even expresses how much she likes Herman Cain, who once talked tough about Islamists and sharia law but recently went to a mosque and apologized to the president of the Islamic Society of North America, Mohammed Magid. HERE is Cain's statement.

Something is very wrong. Coulter's silence on this issue is deafening. After Christie's comments, I thought she might just quietly withdraw her support but this clip demonstrates she remains all in.

CAIR Endorses New Jersey Governor Chris Christie

It will be interesting to see just how far New Jersey Governor Chris Christie falls with conservatives after his four minute diatribe in which he scolded anyone who has a problem with his appointment of Islamist-connected Sohail Mohammed to a superior court judgeship in Passaic County, NJ. As it turns out, conservatives may not have to do much of anything because the left, coupled with at least one Islamic group with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, all seem to be singing Christie's praises.

As Daniel Pipes says, this should end the talk of a Chris Christie presidential run.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie made a very ill-advised appointment earlier this year. He nominated Sohail Mohammed as Superior Court judge in Passaic County, NJ. Then, late last month, Christie gave a press conference on the day of Mohammed's swearing in. During that press conference, the indignation the New Jersey governor has directed toward teachers unions was turned on a significant contingent of the Tea Party that expresses concern over Sharia law. Christie called anyone with those concerns 'ignorant' 'crazies' who were pushing sharia 'crap.'

NRO's Andy McCarthy fired back at Christie. McCarthy is more than qualified to do so. He was a prosecutor against the blind sheikh after the 1993 WTC bombing.

If Americans examined the classical interpretations of sharia, core tenets of which are antithetical to Western liberalism, you wouldn’t need to pass a law against it; it would be discredited. But that is an examination government officials like Governor Christie — taking their cues from the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations — seem determined to make sure we never have. It’s a religion of peace; now move along, there’s nothing else to see here.

And similarly, you are to understand that there’s nothing else to see in the matter of Sohail Mohammed’s elevation to the bench. He is, Christie blustered, a solid American citizen and an “outstanding lawyer” who “played an integral role in the post–September 11th period in building bridges between the Muslim American community in this state and law enforcement.” Ah yes, “building bridges” — code for “Muslim outreach,” the law-enforcement strategy that started in the Clinton years, picked up steam in the Bush years, and has become the backbone of Obama counterterrorism.

Like many bad ideas, this one began with the best of intentions. When the Islamic-terror onslaught started in the early 1990s, it was treated as a crime problem. State and federal law-enforcement agencies had precious little intelligence about the Muslim communities in which terrorists insinuated themselves. The solution: reach out to Muslim leaders, show them we see this as a “violent extremism” issue, not an Islam issue, and they’ll share information with us.

Nice idea on the drawing board, utterly wrongheaded in practice. You see, the problem is Muslim leaders. Rank-and-file Muslims in the U.S. tend to be pro-American and supportive of counterterrorism efforts, albeit quietly so. That’s because they are intimidated by the leadership in the mosques and Islamic centers, which tends to be heavily influenced by the Muslim Brotherhood, and thus anti-Western, anti-Israeli, anti-Semitic, anti-assimilationist, and wedded to the fundamentalist, classical interpretation of sharia.

That’s why, as Governor Christie ought to understand, sharia concerns can’t be dismissed as “crap.” They help us sort out the pro-American Muslims we want to empower from the Islamists. When we dismiss these concerns, we end up building bridges to all the wrong people, as government has done, to its repeated embarrassment, for two decades. That is how we end up “partnering” with the likes of Abdurrahman Alamoudi and Sami al-Arian (both ultimately convicted, with their ties to terrorism duly exposed); Salam al-Marayati, the Muslim Public Affairs Committee leader who argued that Israel should be at the top of the 9/11 suspect list; and such Islamist organizations as CAIR and the Islamic Society of North America, which, though not indicted, were shown by the Justice Department to be co-conspirators in the Holy Land Foundation terrorism-financing case.

Governor Christie would have you believe opposition to Mr. Mohammed was sheer bigotry: “It’s just unnecessary to be accusing this guy of things just because of his religious background,” he railed to reporters. It’s a narrative Christie fans would like to help cement. It’s not true.

For the record, Sohail Mohammed is not just an attorney. He served as a board member for an Islamist organization, the American Muslim Union, which, as Commentary’s Jonathan S. Tobin and terrorism expert Steve Emerson have shown, has a checkered past of rationalizing jihadist attacks and supporting jihadists.

With the same vigor he displays when going after teachers unions, Chris Christie went after anyone who suggested that his appointment of Sohail Mohammed to a Superior Court judgeship in New Jersey was ill-advised, in much the same way. At a press conference, Christie referred to such opposition as 'ignorance' and concerns about creeping sharia law as 'crap.' This is what happens when the righteous indignation of Governor Christie is directed toward conservatives. At one point, he called people with such concerns 'crazies.'

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's nomination of Sohail Mohammed to be a state judge shows the governor's tin ear for radical Islam. Not only did he appoint a longtime mouthpiece for radical Islamists to be a judge, but Christie has also turned a blind eye to the activities of one of Mohammed's clients – radical imam Mohammed Qatanani, head of one of New Jersey's largest mosques.

Qatanani has a history of Hamas support and was related by marriage to a leading Hamas operative in the West Bank. This fall, Qatanani will return to a New Jersey immigration court, where the Department of Homeland Security is fighting to have him deported. In his initial application for a green card filed in 1999, government lawyers say Qatanani failed to disclose a conviction in an Israeli military court for being a Hamas member and providing support to the terrorist group.

IPT goes on to say that Mohammed also defended convicted terrorist fundraiser Sami al-Arian. Emerson's IPT closes with this:

Christie's support for Islamists such as Qatanani and Mohammed betrays either naivete or calculation. Either is troubling.

Based on the press conference, I'm leaning toward naivete. Christie seemed to have a 'thou doth protest too much moment' that included a bit of projection when he described those who didn't agree with him as being ignorant.

Christie may be a good choice for Secretary of Education but he has no business being the Republican nominee.

Video: Showdown between NJ Governor and Senate President

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie must be doing something right because the Senate president, Democrat Stephen Sweeney came unglued over the Governor's budget cuts. In New Jersey, the Governor has the right to line-item vetoes and Christie apparently used that pen in a major way. The contention between Republicans and Democrats started when Christie wanted everyone to work on one budget (his) but the Democrats wanted to submit their own. It went downhill for the Democrats from there. NJ.com posted an article on the exchange and the liberal bias is obvious as the writer refers to Republicans who support Christie as 'bobbleheads.'

Senate President Stephen Sweeney went to bed furious Thursday night after reviewing the governor’s line-item veto of the state budget.

He woke up Friday morning even angrier.

"This is all about him being a bully and a punk," he said in an interview Friday.
"I wanted to punch him in his head."

Sweeney had just risked his political neck to support the governor’s pension and health reform, and his reward was a slap across the face. The governor’s budget was a brusque rejection of every Democratic move, and Sweeney couldn’t even get an audience with the governor to discuss it.

"You know who he reminds me of?" Sweeney says. "Mr. Potter from ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ the mean old bastard who screws everybody."

Sweeney continued using macabre metaphors:

"Listen, you can punch me in the face and knock me down, do what you want," Sweeney says. "But don’t be vindictive and punish innocent people. These people didn’t do anything to him. It’s like a bank robber taking hostages. And now he’s starting to shoot people.

"I liken it to being spoiled. He was angry because he wanted a mutual budget. But do you hurt people because of that? Do you take $8 million in AIDS funding away? Legal services is drowning as it is, and you take away another $5 million? I’m just so angry that he hurt people like this to prove a point. He is a cruel man."

Video: Union Protest in New Jersey

There's something both extremely disturbing and extremely telling in this video. For starters, the mindset of the people who are actually teaching our children is so completely ignorant, it's not very difficult to see what brought us to this point. When teachers don't understand where money comes from, how are they supposed to explain it to children? Many of those children grow up to be teachers, which leads us to this video.

Is this the Inevitable Chris Christie Letdown?

This is a very disturbing development. It also serves as further proof that no politician represents a full loaf. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie has become a hero of the right and a conservative choice for president in 2012 in many Tea Party circles. That is likely to change with Christie's appointment of Sohail Mohammed to a county Judgeship.

New Jersey, the Garden State, has just taken its first step toward becoming the Sharia State, with Governor Christie's nomination of Sohail Mohammed, an attorney to detained terrorist suspects, to a Superior Court judgeship in Passaic County. The Sohail nomination continues Christie's unfortunate pandering to the American Muslim Union and the Islamic Center of Passaic County.

Passaic County has the second largest Muslim population in the country. And the Islamic Center of Passaic County is the state's largest mosque, and it's the only one run by an an Imam who was a member of the Hamas terrorist organization. But when the United States government attempted to deport Mohammed Qatanani, New Jersey's pols and wannabe pols like Christie, quickly came to his aid. Despite the fact that Mohammed Qatanani was a member of the Muslim Brotherhood, the organization that is behind both Al Qaeda and Hamas, despite his own guilty plea to being a member of Hamas, and despite the fact that even in the United States, he had defended a charity that provided funds to children of suicide bombers (this is done as an incentive to reassure terrorists that if they die their families will be taken care of), Qatanani was not deported.

Again, this is the kind of thing that will happen when our enemies are not adequately identified.

To extend grace to Christie in this case would require an incredible leap. It would involve his nominating Mohammed while knowing the State Senate will refuse to allow the appointment. If Mohammed is confirmed, even that play is gone.

As Pamela Geller says, Christie is now off the list.

VIDEO: CAVUTO RANT - CHRIS MATTHEWS A RACIST

Alinsky-ite Chris Matthews learned the art of ridicule from uncle Saul but I don't think he'll find an appropriate way of responding to Cavuto's righteous slam of him in the Rules for Radicals handbook. Last week, Chris Matthews went after New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, not on policy but on his weight. The MSNBC socialist attacked Christie for being too heavy. On Monday, December 13th, Fox News Channel's Neil Cavuto went after Matthews and called him a racist; he didn't use that word exactly but he DID say that attacking someone's weight is akin to 'Racism with a scale.'

I think we can infer that based on that definition, Cavuto thinks Matthews is a racist. This is a thorough smack down of Leg Tingles.

ANOTHER AWESOME CHRIS CHRISTIE VIDEO

Back in April a leader of the Bergen County Teachers Union sent out an email calling on recipients to pray for the death of Chris Christie. As of this writing, that individual has not been dismissed, however the president of the teachers union has offered an apology. In this video, Christie relays to an audience what happened in a face to face meeting between Christie an that president. Instead of returning her call, he invited her into his office and talks about the verbal spanking she received when she said the individual responsible for the email would not be fired.

Double standard exposed and accountability in high supply.

VIDEOS: A DOUBLE DOSE OF NJ GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie just keeps on impressing audiences and viewers with his message - his inexplicable support for Mike Castle notwithstanding. Here are two videos of him that will not disappoint. First up, he identifies by name, a man he sees as the perfect example of the greedy mindset of high ranking government union officials. The man's name is LeRoy Seitz, Superintendent of the Parsippany public school district in New Jersey.

Christie's reason for singling out Seitz? Salary caps for Superintendents are set to go into place beginning in February of next year. Seitz's current contract ends in July. Christie's charge is that Seitz saw the writing on the wall and didn't want to accept the cut in pay so he pushed for a school board vote to give him a five-year contract extension that will pay more than $220,000 / year, which is well over the coming cap.

Shortly after this speech, that vote took place and Seitz got that extension. He also got himself a Public Relations nightmare courtesy of his Governor. Awesome stuff:

Gov. Chris Christie comments on 'teachers unions gone wild'

As the nice little cherry on top, check out this interview of James O'Keefe by an anchor with a local Fox affiliate. The anchor is obviously unhinged for no apparent reason as O'Keefe calmly explains his side. The most obvious reason for the anchor's demeanor is that as a paid professional journalist, he got thoroughly SKUNKED AND PUNKED by members of the population he is charged with serving.

When you factor in the level of embarrassment this man must feel, it's actually kind of easy to understand, though not excuse, his indignation.

Notwithstanding Christie's inexplicable endorsement of Delaware RINO candidate for Senate, Mike Castle over Tea Party favorite Christine O'Donnell, he continues to be on the right side in the fight against teachers unions. In this exchange, the immaturity of this teacher's kids appears to have rubbed off on her a bit and Christie calls her on it. After finishing her rather lengthy diatribe, the woman is seen shaking her head in disgust, while giggling to demonstrate her disagreement with Christie's response.

After being put in her place, Christie delivers a response no rational human being could disagree with; the fact this teacher does, even up to the end, speaks directly to how rational she is.

This was a verbal paddling.

VIDEO: RICK PERRY'S LATEST IMMIGRATION STANCE

It would appear that public pressure coupled with Arizona's Governor Jan Brewer putting Texas Gov. Rick Perry to shame in the arena of political courage has the latter revising his public stance on immigration a bit. During an interview with KVUE News in Austin, Perry pulled back from his initial statement back in early May that a bill similar to SB 1070 in Arizona would not be right for his state. Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst took a stance similar to that of Rick Perry at the time as well.

Here are Perry's comments on May 3rd regarding the likelihood of a law similar to the one in Arizona passing in Texas:

I fully recognize and support a state’s right and obligation to protect its citizens, but I have concerns with portions of the law passed in Arizona and believe it would not be the right direction for Texas.

Strikes me as an attempt to dissuade or discourage State Representatives and, by extension, constituents from pushing for it.

Now, fast forward to this KVUE News report exactly one month after Perry made the aforementioned comments. The interview, conducted by Martin Bartlett focuses on both the matter of a projected Texas budget shortfall as well as immigration. The whole thing is worth watching but the money quote from Perry is this one:

“I don't ever take the bait of saying I'm going to sign or not sign a piece of legislation before it's even introduced or debated one time on the house floor. We'll have a good healthy debate. I'm more concerned with getting that border secure, then laying out a very comprehensive immigration policy, if that's required, if Washington continues to abrogate the responsibility of immigration policy in this country.”

Something made him calibrate his words differently (yes, that was an obscure Obama reference).



The interview highlights two very real problems in Texas. The first is budget deficits and spending; the second is immigration. I found it particularly interesting that New Jersey's governor Chris Christie is demonstrating exactly how to deal with the first problem - by going after unions and reckless spending. Brewer in Arizona is confronting immigration head-on in much the same way. Ironically, those two governors are separating themselves from the pack. Perry would do well to take their lead.

VIDEO: CHRIS CHRISTIE DELIVERS ALINSKY ANTI-SERUM

Not only does New Jersey Governor Chris Christie trump his earlier performance but he utterly shames his predecessors as being nothing short of cowards. In this clip, Christie outlines the only formula for defeating Community Organisms and Unions - standing up to them. When you see leaders like Christie and Arizona Governor Jan Brewer reach this level of being completely fed up, there is no turning back. In both cases, each has seemingly reached a point of no return. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Watch as Christi stands up to the bully that is the Teachers Union. He even uses the perfect playground metaphor to do it. There are some very uncomfortable union leaders in New Jersey right now. Also take note of how this kind of truth almost rubs raw the sores of discontent - it's Alinsky anti-serum.
