Marco Rubio's attempts to explain his Immigration stance sounding a bit convoluted

A common response from radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh when it comes to the question about whether Barack Obama is intentionally trying to destroy the country or is doing so because he doesn't know what he's doing is one of dismissal. In Limbaugh's view, it doesn't matter because the result is the same.

Conservatives - whether they want to admit it or not - are being faced with a similar reality when it comes to U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) - a Tea Party darling - and his involvement with the 'Gang of 8', which consists of Senators who simply cannot be trusted to do what's best for America, let alone what's right on immigration (Schumer, Durbin, Menendez, McCain, Graham, etc.). When it comes to Rubio, conservative talk show hosts scratch their heads and want to know why Rubio is doing this. Is he naive or does he have an agenda diametrically opposed to conservatives who put him in office?

To paraphrase Limbaugh, it doesn't matter because the result will be the same if immigration reform is passed without first securing the border.

When you listen to Rubio attempt to explain why he's part of the 'gang of eight' or why he's supporting such a monstrous bill, he says the issue is 'complicated'. It's really not. Conservatives see it as quite simple and have for years. They're willing to talk amnesty, citizenship, reform, blah, blah, blah after one thing - and one thing only - happens.

The. Border. Is. Secured.

What's complicated is trying to understand what Rubio is saying. When you're done listening to him attempt to explain his position, you just keep coming back to one very simple question:

Why can't we talk about this after the border is secured? Rubio doesn't seem capable of asking that question. Then again, these conservative talk show hosts don't want to press him too hard, apparently because of his Tea Party bonafides. In fact, listening to his interview with Mike Gallagher, the lead up to Gallagher's first question reminded me of all those Senators who burned up precious minutes during Hillary Clinton's Benghazi testimony, praising her for being such a great Secretary of State and for serving her country.

A noteworthy moment during Rubio's exchange with Gallagher comes around the 5:50 mark. Gallagher asks Rubio if he believes there are Democrats on the other side of the aisle who simply do not want border enforcement and want open borders. Rubio's answer was quite telling:
"There's no doubt there are people that feel that way but they're not a serious player in this conversation..."
Really Senator? If that is indeed true, then you should be able to pass one very simple, one-page bill that demands the border be secured. There is a reason that hasn't been done; 'serious players' are preventing it.

I would love to know how Rubio is defining 'serious player' because every single one of his fellow Senators is one in this conversation and certainly the rest of the 'gang of eight' is. Are we to believe that Schumer and Durbin want a secure border? Please. Rubio's counterparts in the House will be 'serious players' as well. Essentially, what Rubio is saying is that every member of his 'gang of eight' wants a secure border.

Again, we're back to either naivete, denial, or dishonesty. The fact that we DON'T have a secure border right now is proof positive that we already have 'serious players' who don't want it secured.

Here is a portion of Rubio's interview with Sean Hannity, via Daily Caller:

The benchmark for conservative politicians is former U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), who now heads the Heritage Foundation. He's obviously not happy with Rubio's stance or the 'gang of eight' which should most definitely reinforce the concerns conservatives have about what Rubio is doing. As if that's not enough, as you'll see at the beginning of this clip, Barack Obama is praising the efforts of Rubio's gang (so is Howard Dean).

Via Daily Caller: Rubio is so on the wrong side of this issue and it doesn't matter if he's doing so intentionally or because he doesn't know what he's doing - the result will be the same.

Video: Interview with Jim DeMint (Best candidate for POTUS in 2016?)

When Jim DeMint, by far the most principled Senator in the U.S. Senate, announced that he was stepping down to lead the Heritage Foundation, most viewed it as a step down for conservatism - because DeMint was that good. As the dust has settled since that announcement, the seat held by DeMint has been filled by the very capable conservative Tim Scott (R-SC) and DeMint is prepared to impact the political landscape as a marketing tactician in a world rife with technological marketing tools.

The seat once held by DeMint is in good hands and effective April 4th, so is Heritage. On his first day as president of Heritage, DeMint sent out an open letter that explains what he's done during the transition and what he'd like to accomplish during his tenure. In many ways, he may just be more effective than if he'd stayed in the Senate.

In fact, if he does this right, DeMint may just become the obvious choice for president in 2016; he is certainly up to the task.

This morning, Ed Morrissey interviewed DeMint about his new role.

Is Jim DeMint going to Torpedo his Tea Party Creds by Endorsing Romney?

It's inexplicable enough to see Ann Coulter endorse Romney but Jim DeMint? Such an endorsement would be a betrayal of the Tea Party. Senator Tea Party would risk becoming Senator Benedict Arnold. The only reason any conservative would get behind Romney is that said conservative has bought the premise which says Romney is the only candidate who can beat Obama. That is the extent to which any grace should be extended to DeMint for doing so. And it's a lame reason.

Via Roll Call:
Mitt Romney is the favorite to receive Sen. Jim DeMint's (R-S.C.) much-sought-after endorsement in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to knowledgeable GOP sources.

DeMint, who endorsed the former Massachusetts governor in 2008, made clear in an interview late last week that he has made no decisions on whom he will support in the 2012 primary. But Republican operatives familiar with the DeMint-Romney relationship and privy to the conservative Senator's private assessment of the GOP field believe Romney is the most likely candidate to receive the backing of the tea party favorite.

"Jim is far more likely to endorse Mitt than anyone else currently in the race," a Republican with South Carolina ties said. "Jim is a business guy and that's his background. He's not really the good ol' boy conservative type. So Mitt in a lot of ways is a more comfortable fit for him."
The first sign that endorsing Romney is a bad idea is that the mainstream media wants him to get the nod, just like it wanted John McCain to get the 2008 GOP nomination. Until McCain won the nomination, the liberal media defended him and touted him up as the best choice because he could get the independent voters.

Once McCain got the nomination, what happened? The answer is that the liberal media turned on him, and quickly. The New York Times tried to push a story that said McCain had an affair with a staffer; the media in general pushed the narrative that said four years of McCain would be like four more years of Bush; he was too old to be president and he didn't know how to operate a computer. Remember?

McCain was thrown under the bus by the media only after he won the nomination. Why, on earth, would the same liberal media not do the same to Romney? The answer is that it would. But how will they do it? They could surreptitiously attack his Mormonism by keeping it alive as an issue to debate by pitting evangelical Christians against moderates.

Last week, there was talk - though quickly denied by camp Rubio - that the chief of staff for the Tea Party favorite from Florida worked hard behind the scenes to move up Florida's primary to help Romney. Whether true or not, there is a school of thought which says the longer voters are exposed to Romney, the more support he will lose.

There's the issue of Romneycare and now it's been learned that Team Romney reached out to Obama Science czar John Holdren in 2005 for the purpose of reducing CO2 emissions in Massachusetts.

The decision to support Romney is one based in fear, a fear that says no one else can beat Obama. The fact that the liberal media is pushing Romney should cause all conservatives to check themselves before they wreck themselves (h/t Ice Cube).

DeMint to Back Primary Candidates Seeking to Replace Incumbents who Voted for Boehner / McConnell Sandwich?

It is no secret that the Tea Party isn't the least bit happy with the debt ceiling deal that was agreed to by Speaker John Boehner. Now, the group's most powerful advocate - Jim DeMint - appears to be poised to do something he pledged he said he wouldn't do; the Senator from South Carolina is hinting that he will back Tea Party candidates seeking to unseat incumbents who voted for the debt ceiling deal passed by the House. If this is true, any Republican who ultimately got in line behind Senate Majority leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Boehner should take notice; DeMint became quite the Tea Party kingmaker in 2010.

Via the Hill:
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) might back primary challengers to incumbent Republican senators after all.

DeMint had promised after last year’s election that he would not endorse any opponents to his fellow GOP lawmakers in the 2012 cycle. But now he is angry enough with the debt-ceiling compromise that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) struck with President Obama that he might back serious challengers to Republican senators who support the plan, according to a source close to the senator.

“He’s already opened the door to changing that policy in terms of supporting people in primaries — this deal could bring him to the point where he says he’s not going to make any guarantees,” said the source, who asked not to be identified because of the sensitive nature of intraparty relations. “It’s not a threat that he’s going to oppose anybody, but ... if he does, nobody should be surprised.”
Without DeMint, the Senate would likely consist of Charlie Crist and Mitch McConnell's choice for the seat ultimately won by Rand Paul:
DeMint, whose Senate Conservatives Fund helped finance several right-wing Republican candidates last election, angered Republican leaders when he backed a handful of conservative challengers to candidates backed by the establishment.

He supported Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) over McConnell’s favored candidate in Kentucky and helped give Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) an early boost in his primary against then-Florida Gov. Charlie Crist (I).

After the 2010 elections, DeMint promised his colleagues he would not endorse any primary candidates, but the debate over raising the debt ceiling has changed his mind. DeMint said in mid-June at the Republican Leadership Conference that “if we have folks who go the wrong way on [the debt-ceiling vote], it’s going to be pretty hard for me to sit still” and stay out of primaries.
One thing is for certain. The 2010 elections were monumental and Republicans that were either sent to Washington for the first time or reelected, were sent a very clear message that came with a short leash. The Tea Party is in no mood to look the other way when it comes to the recent debt ceiling vote.

Video: DeMint Slams both Reid and Boehner Plans

If Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) is correct, then House Speaker John Boehner is nothing more than a bit player in a Kabuki dance, designed to portray the perception that Republicans have defeated the Democrats in the debt ceiling debate. My inclination is to believe DeMint more than anyone else in the Senate if not everyone in all of Congress. If there were any congressmen who are more trustworthy, the list certainly doesn't include Boehner. The trick being played on the people by the establishment involves a premise that says the dollars in cuts will exceed the increase in the debt ceiling amount. The problem is the cuts are ten years out and the limit on the debt ceiling is only six months out.

If Boehner is playing games, he needs to be primaried. PERIOD.

Here is Jim DeMint with Greta after Obama's speech and Boehner's rebuttal via Fox:

Video: Jim DeMint's take on Debt Ceiling

Talk about two diametrically opposed Senators. I felt like I was watching good vs. evil. The vacant stare by Sen. Dick Durbin in this exchange is indicative of how clueless he is. Senator Jim DeMint is calling for a balanced budget amendment and is championing the 'cut, cap, and balance plan.' There is something so fundamentally lost on Democrats - unless they WANT to destroy the country - that is so simple for even the most intellectually bankrupt to understand. At some point, you have to stop spending more than you take in. They don't seem to be able to grasp the concept.

Durbin is either too stupid or too evil to understand it. Oh, was that too pejorative? Sorry, he deserves it.

Senate Minority Leader McConnell's Bizarre 'Plan B' on Debt Ceiling

Welcome to the sausage factory. The only thing that would make this video of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) better is if circus music was played in the background. You may have to watch this video more than once to understand what on earth he's suggesting with his 'backup plan' if no deal is reached between Republican congressional leaders and Obama over the debt ceiling. This appears to be a political calculation on McConnell's part to neutralize Obama's attempt to hold senior citizens hostage by threatening to withhold their social security checks if Republicans don't give him what he wants.

The problem is that it will hand Obama the keys to the debt ceiling car, which mean the president's fear-mongering will have worked. These establishment Republicans are doing all they can to avoid the fight that conservatives are DEMANDING they engage in. Once again, they are unwilling to enter the ring and must be shoved into it.

Unfortunately, McConnell's Plan B, if talks don't yield a deal, is to put the responsibility for raising the debt ceiling squarely on Obama's shoulders three times between now and the 2012 election. McConnell may see this as political gamesmanship to get the better of Obama but the Tea Party and conservatives have long since grown weary of such games. The 2010 elections sent a message that this kind of thing must stop. This may be an attempt at nuance on the part of McConnell but it comes across as so convoluted, it'd likely have unintended consequences if it were attempted.

Via Freedom's Lighthouse:

Also from Freedom's Lighthouse, this is why Jim DeMint is a Tea Party favorite. On Mark Levin's show, he cuts right through McConnell's irrational ramblings and insists such a plan is going nowhere.

Senator Jim DeMint Issues FOIA to NLRB over Boeing Controversy

When Boeing announced that it would be opening up a plant in South Carolina, it caught the attention of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which filed a complaint against the aircraft manufacturer. Why? Because South Carolina is a right-to-work state. The NLRB should have no influence whatsoever over such a decision made by Boeing. South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint wants answers as to what drove this complaint. He has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in hopes of getting those answers:

Via Daily Caller:
Republican Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina requested documents from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Monday, in connection with the ongoing lawsuit over Boeing moving a production plant to Charleston, S.C.

The request, made through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), seeks documents pertaining to the NLRB’s decision to go after Boeing’s decision to relocate to a right-to-work state. Specifically, it includes communications between NLRB and union officials at the International Association of Machinists (IAM) and officials in Congress and the Obama Administration.

The FOIA letter was sent to Lafe Solomon, Acting General Counsel at the NLRB, and Jacqueline Young, General Counsel and FOIA Officer at the NLRB.
In DeMint's letter, he makes it explicitly clear that he wants to know if union members bought access to the NLRB. If so, this could be yet another significant scandal brewing for the Obama administration.

HERE is a copy of the letter.

Sen. Jim DeMint Releases Report on Right-To-Work States' Success

Otherwise known as Senator 'Tea Party,' Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) has released a report that shows a massive influx of people into right-to-work states out of states that force unionization. The report was, no doubt, spawned by the recent controversy over Boeing's decision to open a plant in South Carolina, which is right-to-work instead of doing so in the unionized state of Washington. Anyone with a scintilla of knowledge about economics understands that empowering unions would inevitably lead to this very kind of thing. Those who support unions simply don't have that knowledge.

Via the Daily Caller:
A new report from South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint’s office shows that right-to-work states, or states which prohibit forced unionization and dues payments, are economically outperforming states without the worker protection.

According to DeMint’s study, right-to-work states enjoy more new residents, more new businesses, more new jobs, and faster income growth.

The study shows that more Americans are moving to right-to-work states, causing states that force unionization to lose seats in Congress.

From 2000-2010, forced-union states lost 9 seats while right-to-work states gained 9. The increase in population and new businesses (right-to-work states had 46 percent more private business growth) has also resulted in a greater increase in employment and income in right-to-work states.
Oh, the irony. As the Democrats continue to pander to unions in order to get more votes, they're actually losing seats in congress as a result.

HERE is a link to DeMint's report.

Read it all.

Jim DeMint Boycotting CPAC - Is Muslim Brotherhood Infiltrating GOP?

Two mildly related stories involving CPAC's loss of conservative figures and groups. CPAC is having quite a few problems this year, with groups boycotting over GOProud's participation and others over the prominence of a Muslim with questionable ties, Suhail Khan. On top of that, the head the group behind CPAC - the American Conservative Union (ACU) - had been mired in a messy financial scandal. The statement from DeMint's office is somewhat vague about his reasons for deciding not to attend but in light of his adherence to socially conservative principles, it's likely the GOProud issue.

Via POLITICO:
"With leading conservatives organizations not participating this year, Senator DeMint will not be attending. He hopes to attend a unified CPAC next year," DeMint spokesman Wesley Denton said in an email.
The larger issue very well could be the alleged infiltration of the Republican Party by the Muslim Brotherhood. While appearing on CNN's Anderson 360, Frank Gaffney debated Suhail Khan, a Muslim on the Board of CPAC. Video speaks for itself.

358,069 MORONS FOUND IN SOUTH CAROLINA

This is not technically news but it's a great use of facts to illustrate a much larger point regarding the South Carolina Senatorial election last month. Inexplicably, a guy named Alvin Greene won the Democratic party's nomination for U.S. Senate. Many speculated - and for good reason - that the voters there were so uneducated about the candidates, they gave Greene the nomination because his name reminded them of the 70's R&B singer, Al Green.

In light of what information about Greene then became available to voters in the run-up to the general, it should have been inconceivable that he would garner any real number of votes. Well, the truth is that despite many YouTube looks into who Greene really was, more than 358,000 South Carolinians voted for him.

Doug Ross makes an EXCELLENT point. Despite winning re-election in a landslide, Jim DeMint's opponent (Greene) actually proved how intellectually bankrupt so many people inside the Democrat party are. Yet, the leftwing media portrays Sarah Palin and her supporters as stupid. In fact, the case could be made that anyone who voted for Greene in the general - even after the spotlight revealed how inept the guy was - were exponentially more brain dead than anyone who voted for him in the primary based on musical tastes.

There are so many Alvin Greene moments to choose from to underscore the point but this should do the trick.

One final point on the number of zombies in America. Going back one year, Rasmussen's Presidential Approval Index has shown the number of Americans who strongly approve of Barack Obama's job performance has virtually remained unchanged - hovering between 20% - 30% consistently. It would not surprise me in the least if close to 100% of the 358,069 voters who pulled the lever for Greene are in that category as well. I've been lightly scratching my head on the approval index but no more. The answer is no more complicated than stupidity. Period.

VIDEO: BARRACK'S CHOICE FOR PRESIDENT IN 2012

South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint (R) is also known as Senator 'Tea Party.' He was featured as one of the candidates on a Fox News segment called '12 in 2012,' which breaks down the 12 most likely Republican presidential candidates two years from now. DeMint has consistently backed Tea Party candidates and continues to catch the ire of establishment Republicans. He is, by far and away, the best candidate for president. As a Senator, he is an anomaly and has proven that when amongst elite establishment politicians at the highest level, he does not compromise his principles. None of the other potential candidates can say that - not even Sarah Palin.

The money quote in this interview from DeMint is when he says, "You can't be a fiscal conservative and not be a social conservative." The logic he uses to back that up is indisputable to the intellectually honest. Basically, the social programs implemented by social liberals have bankrupted our culture. Therefore, clean up the social issues, and fiscal responsibility follows.

MOST CONSERVATIVE SENATOR FIGHTS FOR LIBERAL

Don't be confused by the headline. This is great news. South Carolina Senator - and the man who should be the Republican nominee in 2012 - Jim DeMint says he will introduce a bill that will call for the cessation of all public funds from going to National Public Radio (NPR) in response to the taxpayer-funded propaganda outfit's decision to fire liberal Juan Williams for comments he made about being 'worried' when on a plane with passengers in 'Muslim garb.'

Via Gawker:
Republican Senator Jim DeMint has confirmed that he will introduce legislation to cut federal funding from NPR after they fired analyst Juan Williams for making insensitive comments about Muslims on Fox. The Right's war on NPR has begun in earnest!

Tonight on The O'Reilly Factor, Bill O'Reilly followed his Fox colleague Mike Huckabee in calling for "an immediate suspension of all public money going to NPR" because of Williams' firing. He also added, "We understand [South Carolina] Senator Jim Demint will introduce legislation to defund that enterprise. No taxpayer money should be going to an outfit that abuses free speech." (CNN has confirmed DeMint's intention.)
So the most conservative senator in Congress is choosing to come to the defense of a liberal. Yeah, the skeptical left will say DeMint is using Williams to further an agenda but how can they deny that Williams was unfairly terminated?

Gawker even makes a rather lame point by arguing that if taxpayer dollars are pulled from NPR, then their fundraising drives will become more obnoxious. Who cares?! If the fundraising drives become too obnoxious, they'll eventually turn people off. Besides, I have a problem with my tax dollars funding an outfit that spits on the first amendment, regardless of whether the end result is increased donations to that outfit. At least they'll have to actually WORK to make up for that shortfall.

VIDEO: ANOTHER VERY PAINFUL ALVIN GREENE INTERVIEW

This time, South Carolina Democrat Senatorial candidate Alvin Greene is interviewed by liberal whack job and easily unhinged MSNBC show host Lawrence O'Donnell. Normally, O'Donnell comes across as completely off his rocker but when doing this Alvin Greene interview, he looks quite mainstream. That is until the end when he actually admits he prefers Greene to DeMint after listening to the man make absolutely no sense for five straight minutes. Someone needs to teach Alvin about nuance and segues. As the interview starts out, O'Donnell playfully asks Greene if he's a witch. Greene was so focused on his talking points, he couldn't even see the intended humor of the question.

Greene did the same thing when O'Donnell prodded him about the origin of a nickname the Democrat nominee received in high school. My curiosity is definitely piqued. After watching this, you're guaranteed to have an almost morbid curiosity about why Alvin used to be called, "Turtle."

It just goes downhill from there.

VIDEO: WHY JIM DEMINT NEEDS TO BE NEXT PRESIDENT

Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina (R) is proving day after day to be the most ethical person in Congress. He stands up for what's right time and time again. There is no compromise when it comes to his principles (that I have seen). He continues to take the lead in endorsing Tea Party candidates and truly needs to be the Republican nominee in 2012. He doesn't play the D.C. game and is not part of the establishment.

Unlike Newt, you'll never see this guy sitting on a couch with Nancy Pelosi for some whacked out, nonsensical PR campaign.

The only other candidate comparable for a presidential run would be John Bolton. This guy is the real deal and you will see why in this very short video.

IS CORNYN BEHIND LAWYERS TO HELP MURKOWSKI?

As Chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC), Texas Senator John Cornyn endorsed Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey and Charlie Crist over Marco Rubio. Now his organization is apparently doing what it can to help Lisa Murkowski wrest the nomination of Alaska candidate Joe Miller if the final tally indicates he's the choice of Alaskans.

We all know what ultimately happened after Cornyn threw NRSC support behind the wrong candidate in Florida. Ditto for that wrong candidate in Pennsylvania.

Now this from Erick Erickson at Red State:
....word is coming out of Washington that the National Republican Senatorial Committee, already in “cover their butts” mode, is intervening in Alaska to help Lisa Murkowski.

John Cornyn, Chairman of the NRSC, has been upfront that the NRSC will help incumbent Republicans being challenged. But there is a problem with Murkowski. I have confirmed through multiple sources that Lisa Murkowski has already approached the Alaska Libertarian Party. In exchange for putting her on the Libertarian ticket in November, Murkowski will hand the Libertarians a sizable chunk of her +$1 million war chest.
The last paragraph of Erickson's piece should tell Tea Partiers who the 2012 nominee should be:
It’s as if Rob Jesmer, the NRSC’s Executive Director, is a Tea Party saboteur, intentionally destroying the NRSC. On the bright side, because of Rob Jesmer’s incompetence, the GOP has one of the most conservative batches of candidates in a long time: Angle, Buck, Lee, Paul, Rubio, and Toomey — all opposed by the NRSC and supported by Jim DeMint.
As Republicans continue to wonder who would be the best candidate would be in 2012, DeMint is almost always on the right side of issues (and candidates). DeMint / Jindal 2012?

VIDEO: OLBERMANN MEETS ALVIN GREENE

For some reason, as I watched this, I couldn't help wondering if Olbermann was short-circuiting. Olbermann gets a lot of flak for not interviewing opposition guests; in some weird way, this was almost better. Not only does Alvin Greene come across as totally unqualified but Olbmermann looks ridiculous because Greene represents the ideological left that Olbermann so vociferously defends.

The exchange is almost five minutes long but it's worth watching every single second. Greene is so unqualified as South Carolina's Democratic candidate for Senate that Minority Whip, James Clyburn has a problem with it. The accusation being floated by the left is that Greene is a Republican plant.

Has anyone stopped and wondered if the power of the Community Organisms is responsible for Greene's rise? Just sayin...

VIDEO: SHEP INTERVIEWS ALVIN GREENE'S ACCUSER

This is among the most bizarre stories of this short century. On its face, you may say we're only 10 years in so it's not that bold of a claim. Uh, have you been paying attention these past 10 years? I rest my case. Alvin Greene has somehow won the Democratic nomination for Senate in South Carolina.

After he won, people began taking a closer look at him and found a pending felony charge relative to pornography in his file. On June 11th, Fox News' Sheppard Smith interviewed the young lady Greene allegedly presented 'porn' to and it's one of those interviews you don't want to miss. I had the good fortune of seeing it with relatives and we looked at each other throughout just to make sure our eyes weren't deceiving us.

Just so you can get more Greene, take a look at this interview at his home. Greene ran on a military record but couldn't produce any photos of himself in uniform to the interviewer. This story is getting VERRRY INTERESTING.

JIM DEMINT CALLS OUT AL GORE DURING BLIZZARD

Jim DeMint, Republican Senator from South Carolina, has issued a much-deserved jab at Al Gore using Twitter. The fact that Allegory is nowhere to be found as the concept of Global Warming is being dealt body blow after body blow is not lost on DeMint who sums it up in one little sentence.

Via The Hill, DeMint's tweet:
It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries "uncle"
Where are you, Al?

Seriously, when one's views are being assailed in conjunction with strong evidence to back up those refutations, the advocate of those views - in this case, Allegory - should be defending those views even more aggressively.

Allegory has instead chosen to hibernate.

VIDEO: HARRY SMITH TELLS DEMINT TO FORGET NAPOLITANO'S COMMENT

There are so many different dynamics at work here. First, keep in mind that the near catastrophic bombing of NW flight 253 happened on Friday, December 25th. On Sunday, December 27th, DHS Secretary said, "the System worked". It was the quote of the day and she was justifiably excoriated incessantly.

On Wednesday, the 30th, CBS' Harry Smith is interviewing South Carolina senator Jim DeMint who simply references Napolitano's comment presumably, to make a broader point. Not only does Smith object to it but says it's "ancient history" before telling DeMint to focus on the present instead of the past. Harry, if comments made three days earlier are "ancient history", I guess that makes the near bombing of Flight 253 pre-Cambrian. If so, why is it newsworthy?

Dynamic number 2: In light of the recent revelations that the hosts at MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program are taking live advice from the White House during the show in order to let the WH drive at least some aspect of the questioning and discussions, take note of Harry Smith's eyes in the video prior to and during his chastising DeMint. On two occasions, he appears to look off to his left as if he's being told by a producer to squash DeMint's comments.

Oh, and compare Smith's reaction to DeMint with his reaction to hearing Al Gore personally read his poem.
