Todd Palin endorsed Newt Gingrich last week, which gives people even more reason to think Sarah Palin did the same thing while appearing on Hannity's television show last night. So, did she endorse Newt?
Not really. If you listen to what she's saying here, it has more to do with wanting to keep Romney from pulling away than it does supporting Gingrich. Pundits far and wide are making the claim that if Romney wins in South Carolina, the nomination is his. If that's true, he can start tacking toward the left, which is where he's most comfortable.
What Palin is saying here is that South Carolinians who are undecided should vote for Gingrich, not because he's necessarily the best candidate but because it will buy the nation more time to shop.
There are a couple of things we CAN glean from Palin's comments here, though. First, I think it's safe to say that she's not much of a Romney fan. Second, she probably sees Newt as being more electable than Santorum. Then again, Newt is polling ahead of Santorum in South Carolina, so her motives may be 100% tactical in nature - keep the primaries going.
If you extrapolate this strategy to Virginia, where Paul and Romney will be the only two on the ballot, supporters of Gingrich and Santorum would be best served by voting for Paul in that state. It would keep Romney in check while keeping the not-Romney candidates in the race.
There are three factions in the Republican race right now - the establishment candidate (Romney), the libertarian candidate (Paul), and the anti-establishment candidate (Gingrich, Santorum, Perry).
Palin actually makes a good argument for South Carolinians who support Santorum or Perry to vote for Gingrich. If Romney wins this Saturday's primary, all three men could essentially be gone. If Gingrich wins, Santorum may still be alive (Perry will likely exit on Sunday either way).

SC Debate Video: Santorum Traps Romney
Romney has already become the presumptive nominee in the eyes of many. Even those looking for the anti-Romney candidate are conceding that a win in South Carolina would be game over. That's why his opponents in last night's debate needed to land knockout punches, in addition to bolstering themselves with good performances.
Though no one landed any haymakers on Romney, this was a good moment for Santorum, who challenged the frontrunner on a Super PAC ad that identified the former Pennsylvania Senator as someone who wants felons to vote. Santorum proceeded to expose Romney as having been more liberal on the issue when he was governor.
Not a knockout but Santorum did lay a glove on Romney here.

Report: Romney PAC Donated $36,000 to SC Nikki Haley BEFORE she Endorsed him
If true, this is disgusting on so many levels. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley rode the Tea Party wave to office in 2010. She was smeared relentlessly by the media as being an adulteress and the only way she was able to overcome it was avid Tea Party supporters who fought for and defended her honor.
Now this.
Via Posner Politics:

Now this.
Via Posner Politics:
Gov. Nikki Haley announced her endorsement of Mitt Romney in mid-December.
The Republican presidential candidate, regarded to be somewhat moderate, earned her Tea Party support because “he knows how the private economy works, how to fix it, and most importantly how to solve problems,” Haley said in her announcement. If true, this goes a LONG way to explaining why so many prominent Republicans have come out for Romney. It also would mean that Romney's PAC likely foresaw this scenario back in 2010, when it contributed to Haley's campaign.
The fact that Romney knows how to donate to campaigns might have more to do with it, though.
His “Free and Strong America” political action committee donated $36,000 to Haley’s campaign in 2010.

Is Holder Using Voter ID to Race Bait?
Interesting theory put forth by Jeffrey Kuhner at the Washington Times. Holder is going after states that have passed voter ID laws. In particular, South Carolina has passed one that says before you can vote, you must present one of five specific forms of ID. Holder is likening this to Jim Crow and says its discriminatory because more minorities are without ID than are whites.
Reading Kuhner, you can't help but conclude Holder doesn't believe this at all. He's just using the argument to gin up anger amongst the minorities to motivate them to vote:
The WSJ explains how Holder's attack in South Carolina may actually backfire.
Reading Kuhner, you can't help but conclude Holder doesn't believe this at all. He's just using the argument to gin up anger amongst the minorities to motivate them to vote:
Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. claims Jim Crow is returning. In a recent speech, Mr. Holder said that attempts by states to pass voter identification laws will disenfranchise minorities, rolling back the clock to the evil days of segregation. He said that a growing number of minorities fear that “the same disparities, divisions and problems” now afflict America as they did in 1965 prior to the Voting Rights Act. According to the Obama administration, our democracy is being threatened by racist Republicans. Hence, the Justice Department must prevent laws requiring a photo ID to vote from being enacted.Read it all.
Mr. Holder argues that voter ID laws disproportionately discriminate against poor blacks and Hispanics - citizens who cannot afford to acquire a driver’s license, passport or other form of photo identification. The latest victim is South Carolina; its voter ID law has been blocked by the Justice Department. Liberal Democrats - taking their cue from the White House - are portraying the national movement for election reform as an authoritarian assault upon civil liberties. The National Association for the Advancement of Colored People has even petitioned the United Nations, asking it to declare states’ voter ID laws human rights abuses. For the radical left, America has become Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
This would be comical if the consequences were not so serious. South Carolina’s legislation provides for free ID cards to be given to anyone who needs it. Not one person - white, black or brown - is discriminated against or discouraged from casting a vote at the ballot box. Moreover, the Supreme Court already has ruled on the issue - upholding state voter ID laws. In the 2008 Crawford v. Marion County Election Board decision, the high court held that an Indiana law mandating photo identification at the voting booth was indeed constitutional. If it is good enough for the Supreme Court and the overwhelming majority of the states, then it should be for Mr. Holder as well.
It isn’t. And the reason is simple: The administration is trying to whip up minority frenzy, propagating the myth of widespread ballot suppression. The goal is to foster a sense of racial persecution of blacks, intending to maximize voter turnout in November. The results, however, will be to poison race relations further. Mr. Holder is cynically playing the race card in order to achieve President Obama’s overriding ambition: re-election.
The WSJ explains how Holder's attack in South Carolina may actually backfire.

OWS'r Arrested for Threatening to Murder Governor
How many OWS miscreants must rear their heads before it becomes patently obvious to more than about 40% of Americans that this movement is full of miscreants? In this case, Nathan Shafer, an OWS sympathizer, threatened to murder South Carolina Governor and Tea Party favorite Nikki Haley on facebook. I keep coming back to the exchange between Piers Morgan and Gabrielle Giffords' husband Mark Kelly, in which the host brought up Sarah Palin as some sort of irresponsible accomplice to the Giffords shooting, despite the Alaska governor having NO connection to that shooting.
Moreover, the shooter, Loughner, was apolitical at best, a crazed leftist at worst.
Contrast that with Shafer, who is obviously political - he is an OWS sympathizer - threatening the life of the South Carolina governor. Wouldn't you like to ask both Kelly and Morgan who's responsible for Shafer's rage?

Senator Jim DeMint Issues FOIA to NLRB over Boeing Controversy
When Boeing announced that it would be opening up a plant in South Carolina, it caught the attention of the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), which filed a complaint against the aircraft manufacturer. Why? Because South Carolina is a right-to-work state. The NLRB should have no influence whatsoever over such a decision made by Boeing. South Carolina Senator Jim DeMint wants answers as to what drove this complaint. He has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request in hopes of getting those answers:
Via Daily Caller:
HERE is a copy of the letter.
Via Daily Caller:
Republican Senator Jim DeMint of South Carolina requested documents from the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), Monday, in connection with the ongoing lawsuit over Boeing moving a production plant to Charleston, S.C.In DeMint's letter, he makes it explicitly clear that he wants to know if union members bought access to the NLRB. If so, this could be yet another significant scandal brewing for the Obama administration.
The request, made through the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA), seeks documents pertaining to the NLRB’s decision to go after Boeing’s decision to relocate to a right-to-work state. Specifically, it includes communications between NLRB and union officials at the International Association of Machinists (IAM) and officials in Congress and the Obama Administration.
The FOIA letter was sent to Lafe Solomon, Acting General Counsel at the NLRB, and Jacqueline Young, General Counsel and FOIA Officer at the NLRB.

Sen. Jim DeMint Releases Report on Right-To-Work States' Success
Otherwise known as Senator 'Tea Party,' Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC) has released a report that shows a massive influx of people into right-to-work states out of states that force unionization. The report was, no doubt, spawned by the recent controversy over Boeing's decision to open a plant in South Carolina, which is right-to-work instead of doing so in the unionized state of Washington. Anyone with a scintilla of knowledge about economics understands that empowering unions would inevitably lead to this very kind of thing. Those who support unions simply don't have that knowledge.
Via the Daily Caller:
HERE is a link to DeMint's report.
Read it all.
Via the Daily Caller:
A new report from South Carolina Republican Sen. Jim DeMint’s office shows that right-to-work states, or states which prohibit forced unionization and dues payments, are economically outperforming states without the worker protection.Oh, the irony. As the Democrats continue to pander to unions in order to get more votes, they're actually losing seats in congress as a result.
According to DeMint’s study, right-to-work states enjoy more new residents, more new businesses, more new jobs, and faster income growth.
The study shows that more Americans are moving to right-to-work states, causing states that force unionization to lose seats in Congress.
From 2000-2010, forced-union states lost 9 seats while right-to-work states gained 9. The increase in population and new businesses (right-to-work states had 46 percent more private business growth) has also resulted in a greater increase in employment and income in right-to-work states.

358,069 MORONS FOUND IN SOUTH CAROLINA
This is not technically news but it's a great use of facts to illustrate a much larger point regarding the South Carolina Senatorial election last month. Inexplicably, a guy named Alvin Greene won the Democratic party's nomination for U.S. Senate. Many speculated - and for good reason - that the voters there were so uneducated about the candidates, they gave Greene the nomination because his name reminded them of the 70's R&B singer, Al Green.
In light of what information about Greene then became available to voters in the run-up to the general, it should have been inconceivable that he would garner any real number of votes. Well, the truth is that despite many YouTube looks into who Greene really was, more than 358,000 South Carolinians voted for him.

Doug Ross makes an EXCELLENT point. Despite winning re-election in a landslide, Jim DeMint's opponent (Greene) actually proved how intellectually bankrupt so many people inside the Democrat party are. Yet, the leftwing media portrays Sarah Palin and her supporters as stupid. In fact, the case could be made that anyone who voted for Greene in the general - even after the spotlight revealed how inept the guy was - were exponentially more brain dead than anyone who voted for him in the primary based on musical tastes.
There are so many Alvin Greene moments to choose from to underscore the point but this should do the trick.
One final point on the number of zombies in America. Going back one year, Rasmussen's Presidential Approval Index has shown the number of Americans who strongly approve of Barack Obama's job performance has virtually remained unchanged - hovering between 20% - 30% consistently. It would not surprise me in the least if close to 100% of the 358,069 voters who pulled the lever for Greene are in that category as well. I've been lightly scratching my head on the approval index but no more. The answer is no more complicated than stupidity. Period.

VIDEO: ANOTHER VERY PAINFUL ALVIN GREENE INTERVIEW
This time, South Carolina Democrat Senatorial candidate Alvin Greene is interviewed by liberal whack job and easily unhinged MSNBC show host Lawrence O'Donnell. Normally, O'Donnell comes across as completely off his rocker but when doing this Alvin Greene interview, he looks quite mainstream. That is until the end when he actually admits he prefers Greene to DeMint after listening to the man make absolutely no sense for five straight minutes. Someone needs to teach Alvin about nuance and segues. As the interview starts out, O'Donnell playfully asks Greene if he's a witch. Greene was so focused on his talking points, he couldn't even see the intended humor of the question.
Greene did the same thing when O'Donnell prodded him about the origin of a nickname the Democrat nominee received in high school. My curiosity is definitely piqued. After watching this, you're guaranteed to have an almost morbid curiosity about why Alvin used to be called, "Turtle."
It just goes downhill from there.

VIDEO: ALVIN GREENE UNHINGED ON HIS PORCH
This is perhaps the leading candidate for the most surreal story of the decade. South Carolina Democratic nominee for Senate, Alvin Greene keeps lowering the bar on himself. As if it wasn't bad enough that his indictment for showing porn to a minor was issued last week, perhaps his reaction to a reporter who arrived at his house to get a comment is worse. After being greeted by Greene's brother, the reporter came back after candidate Greene turned him away at the door.
As the reporter was talking to Greene's brother in the front lawn, you could hear candidate Greene howling "GOOOOOOOO! GOOOOOO!" Watch for yourself and see if you think Greene might have a career as a soccer announcer if this Senate gig doesn't work out.

REVEALED: ALVIN GREENE'S MILITARY RECORD
h/t to Barrackaid #34 on this one. We knew South Carolina Senate candidate Alvin Greene (D) served thirteen years in the military but not much else - kind of like what we know about Obama and Columbia University. Well, now we know why Alvin wasn't too excited about releasing that military record. After reading excerpts from various appraisals, the one comment that comes to mind is, 'works well under constant supervision'. This guy's story is really unmatched when you talk about how inexplicable it is.
Via the AP:
Here is a must-see video on America's most infamous candidate. I'm not sure what message is being communicated with the constant clips of LeBron James but.......

Via the AP:
The records, which document his superiors' decisions to pass over Greene for promotion, cite mistakes as severe as improperly uploading sensitive intelligence information to a military server, and as basic as an overall inability to clearly express his thoughts and perform basic tasks. How about this gem?
At his home in Manning on Thursday, Greene told an AP reporter who reviewed the documents with him that the evaluations show he was discriminated against by military supervisors but he did not explain what that meant.Oh, and just to prove I wasn't exagerating about that 'constant supervision' remark....
"I'm telling you who they promote: the terrorists and the communists," said Greene, wearing a blue U.S. Air Force T-shirt. "This is why we need to overhaul the military and get these people out."
Greene is "usually capable of handling mundane tasks with supervision" but is "not able to adapt to any changes to daily routine," the reviewer wrote, also noting that Greene had received multiple disciplinary actions for failing to perform his duties.Anyone who votes for this guy really should consider not ever voting again.

VIDEO: ALVIN GREENE SPEAKS TO NAACP
To think that a photo of a woman sitting on the lap of Gary Hart sunk his candidacy just over twenty years ago. Is this how far we've fallen? The fact that a huge swath of South Carolinians pulled the lever for Alvin Greene in the South Carolina primary because his name reminded them of the 1970's singer notwithstanding, there are actually people out there cheering for this man; that is the much bigger indictment of South Carolina democrats.
I've never heard the notion that South Carolina Republican Jim DeMint is keeping the country hostage until I heard Greene say it in this clip. Jim DeMint is keeping the country hostage, Alvin? Really? Then he repeats ad-nausea um that 125,000 jobs have been lost across the country. Uh, Alvin, take a look around at who is in the majority in congress and who controls the executive branch.
The money quote? "..most people that travel to South Carolina, get here by vehicle."
Wow.
Oh, and just for some context, here's that priceless interview between Fox's Shepard Smith and the young lady who accused Greene of forcing pornography on her.
Just because it's once again relevant, here is who South Carolina democrats thought they were voting for.....

VIDEO: JON STEWART RIPS DEMS OVER CONSPIRACY THEORIES
Don't look now but Comedy Central's Jon Stewart might just becoming the man to go to when attempting to determine how far out on the fringe the Democrats are when they have to defend the indefensible. The latest example involves none other than South Carolina Democratic nominee Alvin Greene.
The Democrats are so visibly apoplectic at Greene's victory, their talking points include blaming Republicans for planting Greene as some sort of prank. Predictably, the leftwing media machine is playing right along, doing the bidding of the Democratic leadership.
Enter Stewart, who if nothing else, doesn't fall into line as easily as the liberal lapdog media. When Stewart rails on the Democrats, the latter needs to look in the mirror. Interestingly, he seems to be doing it more often.

VIDEO: CNN MOCKS ALVIN GREENE'S INTELLIGENCE
You would think that the tolerant leftwing media would be proud of South Carolina Democratic Senatorial nominee Alvin Greene for overcoming such long odds. He's the quintessential example of the people the left is supposedly fighting for - Greene is a minority with military experience who is collecting unemployment.
Who better to help push the leftwing agenda? Well, CNN's Jeanne Moos basically mocks Greene for a solid two minutes in this segment. It's quite easy to tell that the leftwing media is embarrassed of Mr. Greene. This isn't likely to play well with those who voted for him.
The left once again proves they're not who they say they are. If they were, they'd be supporting Alvin Greene. Instead, at CNN, they're making comparisons between him and Alvin, the chipmunk.

VIDEO: ANTI-CELEBRITY ALVIN GREENE ON CNN
Democratic nominee for Senate in South Carolina against Jim DeMint is this fine young fellow named Alvin Greene. After getting thoroughly trounced by none other than Keith Olbermann, Greene is then interviewed by Don Lemon on CNN. Is it me or can you feel the collective liberal media jaw dropping every time this guy Greene opens his mouth.
Even the leftwing media doesn't know what to do about him. First of all, they can't believe he won. Then they ponder the fact that he represents the party they're in the tank for and lastly, they seem to becoming increasingly agitated that Greene won't drop out. Greene appears to be getting increasingly agitated that he keeps being asked to do so.
That said, I don't blame the Democratic establishment - to include the MSM - for being embarrassed by this guy winning the nomination. A lesser man would be embarrassed for them.
Watch as Don Lemon is practially apoplectic at Greene's answers.

VIDEO: OLBERMANN MEETS ALVIN GREENE
For some reason, as I watched this, I couldn't help wondering if Olbermann was short-circuiting. Olbermann gets a lot of flak for not interviewing opposition guests; in some weird way, this was almost better. Not only does Alvin Greene come across as totally unqualified but Olbmermann looks ridiculous because Greene represents the ideological left that Olbermann so vociferously defends.
The exchange is almost five minutes long but it's worth watching every single second. Greene is so unqualified as South Carolina's Democratic candidate for Senate that Minority Whip, James Clyburn has a problem with it. The accusation being floated by the left is that Greene is a Republican plant.
Has anyone stopped and wondered if the power of the Community Organisms is responsible for Greene's rise? Just sayin...

VIDEO: SHEP INTERVIEWS ALVIN GREENE'S ACCUSER
This is among the most bizarre stories of this short century. On its face, you may say we're only 10 years in so it's not that bold of a claim. Uh, have you been paying attention these past 10 years? I rest my case. Alvin Greene has somehow won the Democratic nomination for Senate in South Carolina.
After he won, people began taking a closer look at him and found a pending felony charge relative to pornography in his file. On June 11th, Fox News' Sheppard Smith interviewed the young lady Greene allegedly presented 'porn' to and it's one of those interviews you don't want to miss. I had the good fortune of seeing it with relatives and we looked at each other throughout just to make sure our eyes weren't deceiving us.

Just so you can get more Greene, take a look at this interview at his home. Greene ran on a military record but couldn't produce any photos of himself in uniform to the interviewer. This story is getting VERRRY INTERESTING.

LINDSEY GRAHAM CENSURED BY S.C. REPUBLICANS AGAIN!
The conservative movement is getting increasingly agitated with RINOISM and it's about time! Lindsey Graham of South Carolina is finding it rather difficult to appease Republicans with conservative rhetoric while acting like a liberal.
The perfect example of this was the juxtaposition of how Graham grilled Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor better than anyone else did and yet voted yes on her confirmation.
The South Carolina Republicans are souring on Graham. CNN reported:
1.) Illegal immigration
2.) Cap & Trade
3.) Supporting the 2008 Financial bailout
Click HERE to view the one page resolution.
Advice to Graham.... Get in line behind that other South Carolina senator, Jim DeMint and start taking lessons from him. DeMint may be the best Senator in Washington.
The bad news? Graham won't be up for re-election for a while. He was re-elected in 2008 but a malleable as he seems to be, perhaps he'll get in line when he fears conservative anger more than he desires liberal acceptance.

The Lexington County Republican Party in South Carolina voted late Monday to censure Sen. Lindsey Graham for his positions on several controversial issues, including his recent support for a compromise on cap-and-trade legislation.Among the reasons Graham was censured...
The Lexington GOP is now the second county party organization in a matter of months to censure Graham after Charleston County leaders approved a similar resolution in November. But unlike Charleston County, Lexington is one of the most conservative counties in South Carolina and is considered a bellwether of Republican sentiment in the state.
